Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Levinson.
Hi Craig, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Originally from South Africa, migrated to New Zealand with my family to leave a dangerous and high-crime environment so my parents could raise me and my brothers in a safe environment. At 19, I got an opportunity to move to San Diego to pursue my dream of playing collegiate basketball. I took a few thousand dollars I have saved up and moved to the US, finding opportunities to support myself while being a full-time student and collegiate athlete. Some severe injuries led to the end of my competitive sporting career my senior year in college and my perspective shifted to what’s next for me. With an entrepreneurial mindset, I developed my first business, a supplement company with an emphasis of building community.
My now client and good friend inspirational global figure Zion became a big part of that brand. Once I saw an exit out of the fitness industry I ended up committing my time and efforts to working full-time with Zion Clark and apply the same brand-building elements I did with the start-up Zion approaching him as a brand. I took on the role of being his manager, agent, social media manager, trainer, publicist and learned to create visibility and exposure by growing all his social media accounts. Including his Instagram from 220k to over a million in 9 months of work. I developed Zion into a professional speaker, helped create a book deal for him with one of the largest book publishers in the US and assist with his athletic endeavors as his trainer too… Zion is a now globally known as a motivational speaker, pro athlete, author, actor, musician and philanthropist.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, with a lack of experience I’ve had to become a great problem solver learning how different industries and roles work – especially in entertainment. I have had to believe in my own ability to get things done without a support system or mentor to teach and guide me along the way. However, I enjoy the challenge and what it takes to be successful. I put it upon myself if I succeed or fail as accountability is an important part of succeeding in life and in business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I currently run a digital agency CL Talent and help creators, athletes and celebrities monetize their content across different social media platforms and also brand building. I have taken my concepts and ideas I’ve developed through my experience to create systems and a blueprint to how talent can successfully grow their personal brand to lead to more opportunity, brand deals and income streams. My agency also helps create brand deals for talent through the relationships I’ve established in my time working in this industry.
How do you define success?
I define success as living a life on your own terms, creating the freedom to decide and dictate how you live your life. The other element of success to me is being driven by purpose, something that is far greater than us as humans. Leading a life that fulfills your purpose and passion in this world and striving for that. This is where I think of creating a legacy, something that lives beyond our time on this planet. Leading a life that gives your gifts to the world.
