Life & Work with Christian Ford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Ford.

Christian Ford

Hi Christian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started a while back when I was following after my big brother trying to play the organ at church. Every Sunday I kept at it playing one key at a time and began to get better and better. Teaching myself by listening to records and learning to play them, my parents soon bought my first keyboard where I learned to play things like Stevie Wonder’s – Superstitious. After playing in church for so long, I was eager to learn how to create my own music. Years later, after creating some good and not-so-good ideas I was introduced to Pops at (Underground Music Group) who linked me up with amazing music producers Ric Rude and THX. There I learned the basics of music structure, audio engineering, how to get and keep clients, how to create my own sound of music, etc. Soon after I was introduced to AMG of the Fixxers who introduced me to Multi-Platinum Artist, Producer, and Engineer David “DJ Quik” Blake Sr. and Greedy Greg who signed me in 2017. Learning and going more into depth of my Artistry, Music Production, Audio Engineering and even touring, I learned all kinds of things while I was signed to get me where I am today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the challenges I’ve encountered along the way in the market I’m in are trusting the right people. Some people will speak and give you all of what you want to hear but don’t deliver.

Then also there are times where life steps in and completely throws your creativity out the window, and you have to know how to get yourself back to the mindset you were at to finish songs/projects.

There was times where finances were a struggle to get projects finished. That itself would be a challenge where you would have to work on your mindset to keep things going.

If you’re in a relationship, there’s a balance of time between your creative time and spending time with your significant other that you would have to work on.

These are some of many more struggles I had to deal with that I can think of right now.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Entrepreneur who is a Musician, turned Music Producer, Recording Artist, and Audio Engineer. I specialize in and am known for creating vibey/timeless records for myself and the other amazing artists I have the honor to work with. I am most proud of not quitting when things may get hard, but also I am proud and think what sets me apart from others is that I pay close attention to detail and am able to listen to records and find what needs to be done to make that song better. Not just because “I” did it or may have come up with something, but I want what’s best for the records.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
There are multiple people in my life that deserves credit. I’ve listed a few earlier who helped me make a huge impact in my career, but there are more I would like to shine the light on.

My guy Smurf of (Street Rebith) taught me what a bar is. I don’t want to go super deep into the mathematics of it, but in music, there is something called a time signature, this time signature dictates how many counts go in each measure of a bar of music. If that sounds confusing, look it up lol.

My guy Preach Da Truth helped me take my whole sound to a new level by introducing me to different genres of music.

Ardelle, Cam 91, and Money iz Mitch inspire and help me structure my lyrics in how I know I want to hear them. I may come up with a few melodies and words and they help me make sure that they make sense.

My cousin Ricky helped me put together my set design for my latest release entitled “It’s My Party” and is a huge supporter of my music and merch. Rick, my other cousin Aaron, and my big brother BJ always make sure I stay on track.

My ninja AMG was the first person to tell me to change the way I think. Which took me a long way.

There are a few more people I keep in my circle who keep me inspired and at it they all know who they are!

If I forgot to list anyone, please forgive me.
