Life & Work with Barbie Moreno of Orange County, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbie Moreno.

Hi Barbie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in a home where safety wasn’t guaranteed. There was addiction, silence, and a lot of emotional absence. I learned early how to stay small, be responsible, and take care of others. That became my identity. I believed if I was good enough, helpful enough, successful enough, maybe then I’d be worthy of love.

So I chased success. I worked in a high-pressure corporate job, made great money, hit all the goals. From the outside, it looked like I had it all together. But inside, I was exhausted and empty. No matter what I achieved, it never felt like enough.

Everything changed after I had my son. I was diagnosed with severe postpartum depression, and not long after, I had a horseback riding accident that fractured my spine. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t care for myself. I couldn’t perform my way out of pain. I had to slow down, and in that stillness, I started to unravel the truth.

That was the beginning of real healing. I started learning about trauma, the nervous system, and how deeply our early stories shape who we become. I studied breathwork, energy healing, somatics, and intuitive work. I stopped trying to fix myself and started remembering who I was before the world told me I had to earn my worth.

Now I help other women do the same. Women who are tired of proving. Women who want to feel like themselves again. I support them in reconnecting with their bodies, releasing old patterns, and living from a place of truth and enoughness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge was unlearning the version of strength I had always lived by. I was used to being the one who held everything together, who kept going no matter what. Slowing down felt unsafe. Rest felt like failure. Even when I left the corporate world, I carried that same energy into entrepreneurship. I thought building a healing business would be different, but I found myself repeating the same burnout cycle in softer clothes.

Another obstacle was letting myself be fully seen. For years, I kept my intuitive gifts and spiritual practices hidden because I was afraid people wouldn’t take me seriously. I had already worked so hard to prove my intelligence, my professionalism, my credibility. It felt risky to say out loud that I use energy healing or that I hear intuitive messages during sessions. But the more I leaned into my truth, the more women began to find me and feel safe with me. That’s when everything shifted.

So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. But I’ve learned that the bumps are where the deeper work begins. They’ve taught me to trust myself, to listen more closely, and to lead from a place that feels honest, not performative.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I help high-achieving women who are burned out and soul tired remember that they were never meant to earn their worth. I specialize in supporting women who have spent their lives performing, proving, and taking care of everyone else while silently wondering, “When is it my turn to feel whole?”

My work combines trauma-informed coaching, nervous system healing, breathwork, energy work, and intuitive guidance. What makes it different is that it’s not just about mindset or motivation. It’s about creating safety in the body, clarity in the heart, and space for the soul to lead again.

I’m most proud of the way women feel when they leave my sessions. It’s not just that they feel calmer. They feel more like themselves. They remember that they are not broken. They just never had the space to be fully seen, held, and supported in this way before.

What sets me apart is that I don’t separate the science from the sacred. I bring together the psychology of trauma and the wisdom of energy. I don’t just talk about healing; I walk with women through it. And I always remind them that their softness is not a weakness. It’s their superpower

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Los Angeles and Orange County is how diverse and open they are. There’s a freedom here that feels rare, especially in a time when so much of the country is pushing for sameness. Here, I feel like people are still empowered to be who they truly are. That matters to me.

I also love how close we are to everything. I can be at the beach in the morning, in the mountains by afternoon, or even take a quick trip to the desert. The weather is beautiful almost year-round, and the access to different cultures through food, music, and community is something I never take for granted. You can eat meals from all over the world without leaving your zip code. That’s powerful.

What I like least is the cost of living and how fast-paced it can feel. Sometimes there’s this pressure to keep up with a certain lifestyle or image, which can be exhausting. But even with that, I still feel deeply grateful to live in a place that values expression, creativity, and culture. It’s not perfect, but it feels like home.
