Life & Work with Armen Zabounian

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Armen Zabounian again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Armen, thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
I go by Peyote Beats, a music producer and studio owner in Los Angeles. I originally came out here from the Coachella Valley 10+ years ago, majoring in marketing at a private university in Burbank. Around 2015 my career as a music producer started to take off slowly but surely so that’s when I knew I needed to leave my marketing job and focus solely on production. You can say I put all my eggs in one basket. I got myself a recording studio which I still operate in today. I played the. game of leverage to launch myself into getting bigger records with more well-known artists. In the past 10 years I had the privilege of working with such artists as Tyga, Doechii, French Montana, Trippie Redd, NBA Youngboy and a lot more to list. Genres I work on include but are not limited to Rap, Pop, R&B, Country, J-Pop and K-Pop. None of this was easy as I had to live in my studio (no showers) in the beginning until I made some sort of income to live off of. Fast forward to 2025 and I’ve now just won a Grammy for working on Doechii’s album “Alligator Bites Never Heal” in the Best Rap Album category.

Great, so let’s jump into an update on what you have been up to since we last spoke. What can you share with us?
Since I last talked to ya’ll, so much has happened. It’s truly a blessing ! In 2024 I received an ASCAP Pop Music Award for “Sunshine”, a single I produced for Tyga featuring Pop Smoke and Jhene Aiko. This was amazing as I was invited to the awards show and honored with a ceremony and certificate. I’ve also started my career in Japan and go there once a year to work with the top J-Rap and J-Pop artists. I had a few releases this past year including one with Yuki Chiba who was featured on Megan the Stallion’s single “Mamushi”. My most recent achievement which is not limited to this would have to be my Grammy win for producing on rapper Doechii’s album “Alligator Bites Never Heal”. I’m so amped for this year, 2025 !
