Anje, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a former celebrity publicist with a passion for footwear, I embarked on a journey into the luxury fashion industry with the establishment of Rogers Pearson. This new venture follows the trajectory of my previous endeavor, Coco Blue Shoes, a fast-fashion brand I launched during the pandemic. Coco Blue Shoes experienced two years of success, but I faced the challenge of competing against fast fashion behemoths like Fashion Nova, which offered similar products at significantly lower prices. In July 2022, I made the difficult decision to shut down Coco Blue Shoes, allowing myself some time to reevaluate my career and entrepreneurial goals. After thoughtful consideration, I decided to pursue my ambition of creating a fashion label centered on luxury artisanal products. This led to the launch of Rogers Pearson in September 2022.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building brand recognition in the luxury shoe market has presented its own unique set of challenges, especially coming from a background in the entertainment and fast fashion industries. Despite my established reputation in these realms, stepping into the role of a designer brought with it a fresh and exciting challenge. It’s a bit like being a well-known actor suddenly deciding to direct a blockbuster film – there’s a shift in perception that needs to happen. So, navigating this new landscape and making my mark as a designer has been an interesting journey. It involves a mix of creative strategizing, engaging marketing, and a dash of relentless enthusiasm to get the name out there in the competitive yet dazzling world of luxury shoes. It’s been less of a struggle and more of an exhilarating adventure, crafting a unique identity in this glittering industry.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve made a name for myself with my distinctive and funky style heels, a signature blend of bold and unconventional. But in 2019, life threw a curveball when I had a fall and broke my ankle, an incident that fundamentally changed my relationship with footwear. No longer able to wear the stiletto heels I adored, I was propelled into a creative journey to design heels of different shapes and structures that could provide ample support for my ankle, blending comfort with my unique aesthetic.

This personal challenge blossomed into a broader vision for my brand. I recognized the need for stylish, inclusive footwear that caters to a diverse range of sizes and preferences. That’s why our women’s shoe line proudly goes up to size 13, a rare find in the world of fashionable footwear. But I didn’t stop there. Acknowledging that one size does not fit all, especially when it comes to calves, our boots come in both wide and regular calf widths. It’s all about celebrating individuality and ensuring that everyone can step out in style and comfort.

Brian Pearson, my partner in both life and design, brings his expertise to the table, particularly with our men’s line. Brian, who wears a size 14 shoe – a size often challenging to find – understands the importance of availability in larger sizes. Drawing from his personal experience, we’ve extended our men’s shoe sizes up to a size 17. It’s our way of making sure that larger-footed gentlemen don’t have to compromise on style or fit.

Together, Brian and I are dedicated to breaking down barriers in fashion, ensuring that our brand is synonymous with inclusivity, innovation, and style. We’re not just selling shoes; we’re providing a platform for self-expression, catering to the unmet needs of many, and bringing a touch of fun and flair to the world of footwear. Our mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their shoe size or style preferences, can find their perfect fit and walk with confidence.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’ve always been known for my straightforward, no-nonsense approach to communication. Sugarcoating isn’t my style – I’m all about being direct and honest. Whether it’s well-received or not, I’m the person who will always speak my mind. This candidness is a core part of who I am. Alongside this trait, I’ve nurtured a lifelong passion for shoes. This love affair with footwear began when I was just five years old and has remained a constant, guiding influence throughout my life.
