Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Silvy. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Australian-born Angie Silvy is an award-winning international photographer with more than 20 years of notable accomplishments in the photography industry. Equally skilled photographing fashion, portraits, interiors and social media content.
Angie began her career right out of high school as an assistant for esteemed Australian designer Stuart Membery where, for the first time, she was exposed to high fashion and serious photo shoots. She went on to become a fashion and product stylist with Mode Brides Magazine in Australia while furthering her studies in photography.
Angie then moved to the United States and became a leading snowboard photographer who traveled the world shooting professional athletes such as Jonny Moseley and Shawn White and working with brands such as Burton, K2, Smith, Quicksilver.
After her sports photography career, Angie became a highly respected wedding photographer with over 500 under her belt, her work has been featured globally and published in People Magazine, The Knot, C Magazine, SMP to name a few.
In 2014, Angie created a social media content agency call Sterling Silvy A luxury digital content agency producing strategic social media imagery and campaigns for fashion, beauty and travel brands. Some of her clients included Levis, St Germain, Moet Chandon and Natura Bisse.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think any type of success comes with challenges and moving from Australia to the US to follow my photography career was not easy. I had one camera, a suitcase and an attitude that I could achieve anything I put my mind too. I had to learn a lot very quickly too navigate life living in a foreign country.
My photography is well-rounded as it has moved into different fields from fashion, sports, weddings, interiors, social media. All of these fields have come with new obstacles and learning curves so being able to adapt quickly in any situation is important.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Angie is a true explorer of simplicity who is globally inspired yet irrevocably Australian with a fresh perspective that is elementary modern and relaxed. With a well-trained eye for style, composition and storytelling, she now focuses on Fashion, celebrity portraits, Interiors and travel content creation.
How do you define success?
Success to me is having an idea or goal and successfully accomplishing that goal you’ve set out to achieve. As a photographer, this is getting that shoot, re-inventing and refining your skill set.
