Life & Work with Angel Hass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Hass.

Hi Angel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’m Angel Hass born and raised in Germany. At age of three, my dad started teaching me Kung-Fu since he owned his own martial arts school. I always loved watching movies with Jean -Claude van Damme, Jackie – Chan, and Jet-Li. Since then, I wanted to be an actress and to spread the message to never give up. At age of 10, I discovered Ballet. The choreography part of martial arts was always my favorite, that’s why I felt immediately at home with dance routines. I was basically every day in ballet school and started taking jazz dance, tap dance, Hip hop classes, and later on Latin ballroom. At age of 17, I started teaching at different ballet schools, which I kept doing for over 10 years. After school, I did my bachelor’s degree in Health Communication and the Certificate in ballet teaching Studies at the Royal Academy of dance. From there on I was teaching, dancing, and traveling to Korea, Paris, L.A., New York, and Miami to learn as much as I can. The thought of acting in a film never let me go. That’s why in 2019 I took an acting workshop in L.A. and fell immediately in love with it. I knew I had to study it in detail, so I enrolled at UCLA where I graduated in 2021. Meanwhile, I discovered the Meisner technique and enrolled simultaneously at Baron Brwon studios and did the two-year program in Meisner, where I graduated in July 2022. I got signed with a talent agency across the board and enjoy every audition and booking. Right now, I’m building my model portfolio and hope to get signed as a petite model soon 🙂

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As an international, you have to figure out a lot of paperwork, which can take a lot of time, nerves, and money. Besides, I moved right before the pandemic, which made it hard to build credits and collaborate. But the hardest part for me was not being able to see my family for two years, since I’m very close to them. In total, I think for every artist you have to make sure to take a rest as well. Because it can feel sometimes that you are always on the run, with the audition, classes, networking, solving paperwork, and socializing that you can easily forget to enjoy the moment.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a dancer, actress, and petite model. I was teaching (dance) back in Germany full-time. Now I’m getting booked as an actress, fitness model, and dancer. This year I booked a small part in an independent TV- series, the experience, and set were incredible. It felt like knowing my Co-actors for such a long time even though it was the first day we met. That’s what I love about art, it can connect you in one second. Besides I got called in as a background dancer for the Fitbit brand I always love to meet the same cast there and to dance for the App. Furthermore, I’m assisting on a documentary, where I’m able to witness fantastic interviews with so much history. I can’t wait to see that project finally made. Additionally, I always love when directors reach out to me to participate in their short film, even if it’s a one-day short shoot for a small part I love the whole experience and connection.

I’m most proud that I always get out of my comfort zone. I like the challenge and I’m never embarrassed to fail or to take a risk. I think it’s important because it’s the only way to grow and explore yourself. You never know unless you try.

I always lead with kindness; I think through the journey it’s not about what you achieve but what kind of person you wanna be and become. When you are in the fast-paced industry you will cross some super nice inspiring people but also super rude people. I think it’s important that this does not change your heart and the person inside of you. Don’t let people run over you, but also don’t become a rude person just because someone mistreated you.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
During Covid, I learned what loneliness is and how much I appreciate my family and people who make me feel at home. I feel like moments/memories mean nothing if you have no one next to you to share them with.
