Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Burton.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am an actor, writer, producer, and director based in Los Angeles, California. I have made five feature films through my production company Burton Pictures, which I started after I graduated from Dartmouth College with an English degree in 2018. These features are Roma 96, All the Lord’s Men, and Pan American: Volume I, Pan American: Volume II, and Pan American: Volume III. Burton Pictures continues making feature films and content, and I aim to ensure our products are always improving.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the most difficult things in filmmaking is to translate your vision of the film into actual footage, iterating along the way if necessary or so desired but retaining the original blueprint as well as possible. Making a film is very exciting and full of possibility because it is an art form which utilizes the contributions of myriad people to create itself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am happy with my improving ability to create my vision as written on the page in the physical world. I believe this to be the job of the director.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I believe luck is a force in the world which cannot be ignored, and the best way to make sure the wind is in your sails is to work all the time and to work with a clear idea as to the purpose of this work.
