Life & Work with Andreas Werner of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andreas Werner.

Hi Andreas, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in regular Advertising Agencies in Munich, Germany, while trying to make it into the automotive design business without any connections. I started creating my own interpretation and concepts of how designs in motorsport could be, which spread through social media at some point and finally brought attention to my work.
While still in Germany, most of the attention already came from california, who seemed more open for new ideas, while in Germany hardly anyone cared about my approach. Therefor it was a logical decision, to work on a visa and get to LA.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Getting the visa was probably the biggest challenge, as it turned out to be an expensive and long process, especially during the pandemic, forcing me to wait 1-2 years longer than planned.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in designing any customisable area in motorsport, mostly the driver’s helmets, their suits, the car, or even the entire team branding. Not only in competitive motorsports, but also in racing based movies, such as the Gran Turismo Movie from 2023, or the upcoming new franchise “Lollipop” by “The Fast and the Furious”-creator David Ayer.
Hard to tell from my perspective, whats sets me apart from others, but I guess it’s the unique and personal approach I am trying to give every client, to make them stand out.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I guess the biggest risk I took, was the decision to leave a “healthy” business environment in munich, and fully focus on the move to LA. But the months and years after the move was made paid off much better than expected, as it created even more attention to my work, ironically even from Germany.
