Life & Work with Amber Wright of Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Wright

Hi Amber, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Where do I begin? I am born and raised in LA- Pasadena to be exact. Raised in a single parent household. My mom and Grandmother (May she rest in peace) are my superheroes in all aspects of my life. Grams was the one who ignited my passion for singing and dancing. I have been performing professionally since I was about 21. I’ve seen most of the world doing what I love to do. I’ve done Hong Kong Disneyland as Nala in the lion King, Universal Studios Japan as the Bride of Frankenstein and more, Princess Cruises doing a variety of shows and genre’s from Opera to the gritty Proud Mary.
Being able to see most of the world while doing what i love to do has been such a blessing in my life. I am a mother of a beautiful two year old boy, and trying to show him he can follow his dreams no matter what they are because Mom and Dad have.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This career, for me, has a lot of ups and downs. You’ll have a point in your life where you are booking gigs back to back. Then periods where you’re in a lull or stand still and nothing is coming in… so get a “Muggle” (harry potter reference) job, as I like to call it, or a normal job like a coffee shop or anything of that nature to supplement bills and living expenses until you book the next thing. It’s definitely a labor of love and I wouldn’t choose anything different.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a singer, dancer, actor, whose dream is Broadway. However, as we get older our dreams kind of morph and change, Thus TV, film and commercials have been added into the ingredients of my dream. As a young girl, my dream was to be a Disney princess but none of them looked like me. Along came a little froggy princess and I was one of her original friends that sang live at Disneyland. It was the biggest deal for me. What sets me apart from others, i think, is wanting to help and see everybody win!

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
For all the Moms out there still performing and hustling and making it happen, You are SEEN.
