Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Noelle.
Alyssa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Alyssa Noelle and I am a photographer. Years ago I started by wanting to be a model. Went out on shoots and found myself more interested in full creation of the photo vs just being the subject. I started to learn to take images using my best friend as my model. As I got better I went to school for hair and make up. That was a great choice, I even did jobs without the camera because of it. I applied my new skills to my shoots and the photos started coming out better than ever. Once I felt like I had handle in the studio and natural light, I learned to mix them. I’m constantly learning and stay inspired.
Bright, bold pallets adorn most of my work. I love natural, rich beauty and artistic story telling. You’ll find a range of imagery styles and subjects within my work. In addition to my 15 years in fashion, beauty and creative work if branched out. I spent two years flying to keep up with a dance competition and for the last three have driven all over Southern California photographing sports and school portraits. In the works are some bold and creative fashion forward concepts you won’t want to miss.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. When I first started getting busy it was overwhelming. The sheer amount of images I had to go through, the tiny decisions that seemed so big, the full spectrum of work that still needed to happen after the shoot was so much. When you do beauty and fashion and retouch all your own work, you’re really putting a lot on yourself. You spend the entire day on the shoot and then need twice as long to go through and edit the images. I would spend hours retouching and dodge and burning… it took away a lot of the fun after a while. It is actually why I switched it up for a while. Those two years traveling for work also meant that I didn’t have to edit, I had a lot of responsibilities but editing not being one of them was a relief. Similar with the school and sports portraits, My job with them is to get a good expression and good light and then hand off images for the office to handle. It’s nice to have some of the work to be shared when working at volume levels. Its allowed me to get creative again.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My job is to create beautiful images of people. I have a range of skills that really allow me to help with every aspect of an image. I can be the team but I prefer working with a full team where I get to be the photographer and creative supervisor. Bringing artists together to create an image instantly creates a vibe. I’m proud of my ability to lead a team to create beautiful work every time.
How do you define success?
Success has many definitions. For me it had layers. First was to become successful at being a photographer. Learning my camera, light, posing, staging etc. Once I felt that I could create good image in any situation thats when I knew I have become a professional photographer. Next is the basic can it pay my bills. It did, It has for many years. Now its time to the next step. Time to be successful enough to thrive.
