Life & Work with Alexandra Martinez of Bay Area, California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Martinez

Hi Alexandra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved from Peru to the United States at the age of 8 and I had a very hard time adjusting being far away from family. I was very shy so It took me a long time to feel confident from school to making friends, especially english being my second language. I felt alone a lot as I was going through this and years later I started watching youtube videos! I felt so inspired and less alone as I started watching lots of videos about lifestyle, beauty, fashion, travel, etc. Al thought it took me a few years, once I graduated high school I decided to start my own youtube channel! I kept it very private and eventually i became more comfortable speaking in front of the camera. I would stack my books to make a tripod, asked my dad to borrow his camera, and taught myself how to edit, make thumbnails and most importantly how to create a youtube channel. Shout out to Youtube University! Despite the breaks I took as i went to college and started work, content creation is something I have always loved. Now, I create content across all platforms, I have had amazing opportunities of making friendships, attending events, getting PR and working with brands I would of never imagined I would have been able to! I have a huge passion for content creation and being able to spread kindness, positivity and being vulnerable is a gift!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Putting yourself out there is really hard, I have had a few really negative comments that I will never forget when I started youtube. Theres moments when it feels discouraging because comparison is real and theres so many people who grow at such a fast speed. But the challenges are all worth it, we are all human after all! Im so grateful everyday.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a UGC content creator and influencer. I focus on beauty, lifestyle and fashion. I am most proud of my community, and my dedication. I think something that sets me apart is my story and the challenges i have overcome to get here. I am a proud peruvian and I do my best to incorporate that into my content too. 🙂

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
