Life & Work with Adam J. Eros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam J. Eros.

Adam Eros

Hi Adam, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It’s always difficult to explain my origin story. There are so many moments, big and small, that changed the course of my life, and in re-telling the tale I always am reminded of too many details that turn my ‘story’ into some long-winded novel that unpredictably jumps from plot line to plot line. So I’ll do my best to keep it short and sweet. I grew up in a musical family and learned the piano at a very young age. I knew music was what I wanted to pursue from my earliest memories. My mother was a theater director at a community college so I was exposed to musicals, dramas, comedies, and all kinds of stage antics as I grew up. I’m sure this experience is at the core of my desire to be a performer and free thinker.

As time rolled on, I developed as a performer and singer and made my way through college – the University of San Diego and Berklee College of Music. I wasn’t satisfied with just exploring one genre. I loved all kinds of music and found myself studying classical, jazz, Latin, rhythm and blues, pop, and everything else that I was enjoying at the time. This led me to a job perfectly suited for those talents – a dueling pianist. I still perform as a dueling pianist today and have helped start clubs in the US and Canada.

In addition to performing, I write and produce music. I’ve been fortunate to have my music featured in movies, cartoons, Sesame Street, and as a #1 Billboard Blues album as a co-writer with artist Whitney Shay. I’ve written songs for Gary Vaynerchuk’s VeeFriends brand, Pencilmation YouTube series, and have had over 500 million plays.

Outside of the music world my wife and I live on a small farm and grow eucalyptus and avocados trees. We’ve started “Ranch Eros Farms, LLC” that we are excited to grow from a small Farmer’s Market brand into an online retailer over the next year that will feature essential oil and eucalyptus-focused therapeutic products.
Staying busy is easy 😉

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Where’s the fun in a smooth road?? I’ve accepted that there have to be twists and turns for me to be happy. I’ve never been a 9-5 office person. I couldn’t do it. I need to set my own schedule and fill it with the things I find interesting and unique. And failure is a part of learning. I’ve always felt that my best moments of knowledge have come from understanding what NOT to do, especially when it came to business. This is all relative of course. You should never handcuff yourself to a specific routine, but in my experience, I’ve found these low moments and analyzed why things went wrong. I dissected why something didn’t work and then forced my perspective to change into what could have been different. And every challenge and “bump” in the road turned into a new opportunity and direction for success.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m especially proud of the relationships I’ve created. Being a performer and artist I get to work with some wonderfully creative and unique people. I helped create a music venue outside of Quebec City with two incredible people – Marie-Pierre Simard and Bob Bissonnette. I’ve written songs with soulstress and artist Whitney Shay that have reached #1 on the Billboard charts. I’ve written songs for inspirational icon Gary Vaynerchuk’s VeeFriends characters that have been set to music videos and shared countless times over social media. I’ve worked with producer and imagination boss Ross Bollinger of Pencilmation and scored dozens of cartoons and written songs. My quirkiness and eclectic musical and theater background has set me apart from other writers when it comes to collaborating with other artists. I’m also very proud of the work I do at home. Getting my hands dirty on a new home or farm project. Taking time to hear the heartbeat of the earth and not get lost in what’s happening next. I’m proud to be a good husband and doggie dad.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
