Life and Work with Tracey McGill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey McGill.

Tracey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
On Board came to fruition after years of frustration and reoccurring allergy attacks, I decided to take my skincare into my own hands. With many “mad scientist” weeks of trial and error and research up to my ears, I discovered that less is more and On Board emerged.

Making a commitment not only to myself, but to my clients; I limit each product to 10 ingredients or less to restrict the opportunity to have reactions and to provide reassurance to those suffering from sensitive skin.
Making the decision to take On Board to market was the best decision I’ve ever made, meeting amazing men and women who suffer from allergies or sensitive skin and to those who are conscious of what the apply to their skin.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has this been a smooth road? Of course not. I don’t think any adventure you set goes exactly as you plan, but that’s what makes it fun too. I’ve discovered things about myself throughout this that has strengthened my weaknesses and enhanced my strengths. Listening is the greatest skill. Listening to your customers and delivering on promises is crucial. Accepting that the best plans have sudden hiccups and adapting and changing, as well as editing constructive criticism and trusting your instincts.

Being a small business owner also relies so heavily on customer service and listening to your customers. The art of good customer service really been lost and it’s one of the greatest assets a small business owner can do to rise above their competition, no matter how big or small.

Please tell us about On Board Organic Skincare.
I make, create and produce everything from concept to product at On Board. Always delivering and listening to what my customers needs and wants are. Incorporating those desires into travel sized organic skincare treats.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Being emerged in sports since I could walk and being pushed to be competitive, definitely has shaped who am I and how I see the world. Doing puzzles and finding simple ways to solve much bigger problems and persevering to not just finish, but finish strong.
