Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Levesque.
Nicole, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was raised in Los Angeles surrounded and influenced by all the arts, witch includes dance, painting, sculpting, fashion and the art of makeup. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 1998 with a degree in Merchandise Marketing, I pursued a career in fashion. With a business background in a creative industry, I decided to go back to school to expand my talent as Gemini’s do. I then attended Cinema Makeup and was certified in High Fashion makeup, ten years later in 2008. I have extensive training from and certifications from brands such as MAC, Sephora, and Illamasqua. As a professional makeup artist, I serve the entertainment and fashion industry.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is never a smooth road but if you love what you do you make it happen. With freelance work, there’s always ups and downs. Keep yourself motivated, consistently keep learning. Networking is a huge part of this industry. Stay humble and learn from all the other amazing artists around you.
Please tell us about your business.
I am a trained make up artist. I focus mostly on red carpet glam makeup and high fashion runway. I love when an artistic team comes together and presents an amazing project or as simple as a client being excited to go on with their day due to the makeup I’ve provided. I feel like it’s building a relationship with the client that sets me apart.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
The arts growing up played the biggest role as a child growing up in LA. I attend 32nd USC magnet school as a child and it opened me up to all the arts. This school had no sports. We all focused on the arts such as dance, music, painting, sculpting, and acting. My family was also very into the arts, so I was exposed to Broadway shows, ballet, and many concerts. All of this exposure guide me into an artistic career.
