Life and Work with Marija Macesic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marija Macesic.

Marija, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always dreamt of changing the world. I wanted to help and save everyone in need. And as a teenager who loved sports, I saw an opportunity to help people through fitness. So, for the next ten years, I looked for ways to get involved in fitness and help people lose weight. Fast forward a couple of years, a devastating loss of a family member to cancer made me much more health conscious and sent me for a spiral into learning about nutrition and health. I spent the next few years educating myself in health and wellness all while helping people find the right path in their fitness journey. I also spent a few years competing in the bodybuilding world as I found it helped me learn more about myself as well as the path one takes in achieving various body transformations.

All the experience and journey of learning the human mind & body, I found myself developing a program that would help one do a complete refresh on their lifestyle and way of living. And that is what I do today.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It most definitely wasn’t a smooth road. But I have always been very stubborn in achieving what I set my mind to. Hence, why all the obstacles I came across didn’t stop me in continuing to help others. A couple of years ago and I was in a car accident that put me on bed rest for a while. I had to stop working out and start physical therapy to heal my body back to normal. During this time, I found myself feeling down and less motivated than I usually felt. It was one of the most challenging times in my life. I continued to help my clients find their happiness but I was neglecting myself and my own happiness. Admitting to feeling signs of depression was the first step in finding myself again. Just like other women in the world, I had to find a way to heal and fight through the struggle on my own, hiding behind a facade of a happy person. I now coach my clients to feel and acknowledge the changes so they can find the appropriate path to heal. Anyone starting out in their journey of life or building out their business will struggle in some way but staying positive and surrounding oneself with encouraging individuals is half of the battle to success.

Please tell us about your work.
I coach people through all the positive/negative changes in their life. I help them find balance, discover the perfect lifestyle, and find joy in the transformation. I cover different aspects of training, nutrition, work/life balance as well as coach them through lifestyle improvement.

I work with other coaches and therapists who cover areas that I don’t specialize in (e.g. mental health, physical therapy, medical health). My approach to healing and changes is different from most coaches because I cover a multitude of client’s needs and for the ones that I don’t specialize in I find a perfect fit for my clients. I work together with other therapists to cover all areas of a client’s life that need improvement. I assist in research and development as well as business/career changes.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
Women in today’s social climate are well positioned to help each other achieve goals and encourage a positive change. We are finally capable of making our voices heard and should use that to help our youth see a benefit in giving back. It is not an easy road to positive change but it is finally an option we didn’t always have.
