Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Garcia.
Hi Johnny, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Always have been into the arts. Whether it’s making cocktail drinks to poetry to collecting Hot Wheels (I got an insane collection of it too). But I have found passion with photography, and I have been doing it since 2018. I started off shooting anything cool around Los Angeles (cars, streets, couples kissing, etc.) until people started hitting me up to shoot and “collab”. Over the years, I’ve built a decent amount of visuals with various creatives (actors, singers, dancers, etc.), and though this whole covid thing took a hit with photography, I’m still on it like crazy. I still try to work with everyone that is willing to do any photoshoots. I’ve sort of created this vintage vibe with my work, and it’s been sort of my style with photography. I definitely would like to see how far I can get with it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The pandemic situation has definitely took a hit because people don’t really want to be out there exposing themselves, so that means not as much photoshoots as I would like to.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
If I’m not doing photography, you can catch me making drinks at a bar or at a local Wal-Mart trying to find the coolest Hot Wheels car I can get.
What am I known for? Hm. I’m probably one of the most empathetic dudes you could ever find. I don’t like bragging about that but picturing yourself in other’s shoes goes a long way.
Also, I’m silly as hell. I like to crack jokes and keep whoever I’m with have an awesome time.
One of my accomplishments as far as photography is that I am now mostly doing paid gigs, as opposed to collabs. I started doing it as a hobby and I’m very grateful of the fact that people are now reaching out to me for some visuals and get paid for it!
What sets me apart from others? Hm. Let’s go hang out sometime. You tell me.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I could only hope that my craft just keeps getting better as I go. I didn’t really go to school for photography, but I’ve done lots of YouTube videos and a bunch of trial and error with shooting and editing.
