Life & Work with Jackie Romero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Romero.

Hi Jackie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off as an actual artist growing up, I loved to paint and draw and still do it today for fun. As I got older, I had a huge fascination and love for the beauty industry so it just went hand in hand to start doing makeup professionally. I got my makeup certification at 19 years old and my cosmetology license when I was 21. Ever since then, I’ve been working and over the years, I found great joy in working on clients on their special events especially weddings.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think there are always obstacles we need to overcome in order to get where we want to be. For me, it was accepting that there is no way to make everyone happy and that’s ok! I love all of my clients and always give 100% when I work on them so if for some reason an appointment doesn’t go according to plan, I am able to let it go and know I gave it my all.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work as makeup artist mostly for special events, weddings and photoshoots! I absolutely love getting to meet new people and make women feel like the best version of themselves.

I specialize in working with brides and feel I am most known for the “glam” bridal look. The reason I love working with brides is because I get to be such a big part of such a special day. I think what sets me apart is that I really connect with my clients on a personal level so I am able to offer more than just a makeup appointment but an experience.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I feel the beauty industry will keep getting bigger and bigger at the rate things are going! During covid especially I saw how women still continued to find ways in order to look their best and invest in new products and couldn’t wait until beauty services were approved. Trends definitely come and go and I think all of the 90’s inspired makeup looks will be here to stay for a while.
