Today we’d like to introduce you to Gil T Serrano.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Music has always been a big part of my life, I started with Drums when I was seven, Acoustic guitar at 13 and Electric guitar at 14. I started playing in bands when I was in High School and really got serious with it. By the time I was 18, I was playing with seasoned professionals in Cover bands learning the business and started writing original music and forming my own bands. With over ten years of experience playing in so many bands all around the so-cal area, it’s been a fun and wild ride. Now I sing and play and stomp as a One Man Band, and I’m hoping to put out an album of all my original material soon.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, it’s not been such a smooth road but the harder I work the better it gets, every experience is a lesson though money has always been tight, band members have always been hard to find, and paid gigs are hard to get. When I was starting out playing gigs with my original band, we never got any money and I always had a good job to support myself and the band working in warehouses until I got injured and was laid off and had to rely on my music to support myself. In today’s world, it seems that nobody wants to be apart of a group anymore and it’s very hard keeping a band together. So I decided to just go Solo and do it on my own.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I play my music where ever I can, whenever I can, where ever they’d let me. I specialize in being real and soulful and Rocking. I’m filled with the passion of making music and making people feel good. I’m most proud of sticking with it and being able to make money by doing what I love.
