Life and Work with Gala Darling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gala Darling.

Gala, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in New Zealand and moved to New York City with two suitcases when I was 24 years old.

In my teenage years and early twenties, I was in the grips of depression and an eating disorder that made real happiness seem like an impossible dream. But when I was 23 years old, I discovered a healing technique called tapping (also known as EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique) that completely transformed my life. On the other side of depression, I was amazed by how beautiful life could be, and started a blog to share my experiences with others. That was 13 years ago!

Since then, I’ve become a bestselling author, coached thousands of women, led retreats all around the world, been featured in the New York Times, and so much more.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest obstacles are your own limiting thoughts. The best thing you can do is learn to identify them when they come up and have a strategy for combating them. I like tapping, but everyone is different!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I teach women that they don’t have to do what society expects. Your path to happiness may not be a marriage and children! The most important thing is that we find out what really makes us feel good and we follow those impulses. Most people have no idea what lights them up!

My first book, Radical Self-Love: A Guide To Loving Yourself & Living Your Dreams was published by Hay House, an instant bestseller, and has been translated into five languages.

My second book, Radical Radiance: How To Make Love To The Universe & Manifest Anything, is being written right now.

I hold in-person workshops, retreats in far-flung locations, and offer many online courses, including an Abundance class that has helped women manifest $100k and up in two weeks! I also create a lot of free content, including weekly energetic reset videos called High Vibe Honey. They’re on YouTube!

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
Being curious and open. Reading outside of my industry. Being generous with what I can do to help others. And relishing not being the smartest person in the room!
