Life and Work with Christine Kennedy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Kennedy.

Christine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I come from a traditional background so I ended up going to pharmacy school although I truly wanted to be in a creative field. I first received my bachelors in Biology, then took a year off to explore career options. I remember wanting to go to the Fashion Institute of Technology for graduate school, but instead of pursuing what I wanted, I did what I thought was expected of me and went on to pharmacy school. Four years later, I graduated with my doctorate degree and worked in the field for 3+1/2 years. I remember not feeling like myself when I was at work and I knew I wasn’t meant to be a pharmacist long term. It wasn’t until I had someone reach out to me via Instagram and ask me to model for them that I found something I absolutely loved doing for work. I started to explore modeling further and quickly booked more and more gigs. I had my first modeling gig ever in February of this year, and I am now modeling and acting full time. I am so grateful for the amazing opportunities I’ve had and I cannot wait to see what’s to come!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve quickly gotten used to rejection. It takes a lot of hard work starting out to make a full time living in this field. You apply to tons of jobs and get rejected from most! But I never gave up and I still don’t, and I am able to make it work.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of. What sets you apart from others?
I’m proud that I left a field I wasn’t happy working in even though it was a stable career with great pay. It has always been important to me to feel fulfilled and work in a career I love. I’m also pretty excited that I’ve only been doing this since February and I’ve already booked a TV commercial and I am on a few billboards!

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
To have a positive mindset no matter what! Since I started thinking more positively, the most amazing opportunities and people have come into my life. I’ve made a huge change in my mindset that has had a big impact on what I’ve been able to accomplish.
