Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Wille.
Hi Andrew, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story started six years ago after graduating from college. I was looking for a new hobby and always loved photography so I decided to pick up my first camera. Shortly thereafter, I moved up to the Bay. Not knowing a single person and working from home as a PR Account Executive, photography quickly took up all of my free time.
It got me out to explore this new city I called home and introduced me to many incredible people that are now some of my best friends. As I was putting in the time to improve my craft, I started getting noticed by brands and began to create content for their digital needs. Fast forward to today, and I’m living down in West Los Angeles, and I’m blessed to be working full time on my photography business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While I’m sure every creator or business owner would like to say the road has been smooth, I don’t think that’s ever the case. For me, it’s definitely been a road of ups and downs. Some of the biggest struggles have come from the business side of photography. Having started this all as a passionate hobby, I was only focusing on the photography side of things and not much on the business side. Once I started working on larger projects, I had to play catch-up on the business side of everything and quickly learned how important that is.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a commercial photographer known for my lifestyle, urban, and landscape photography. My unique style is easily recognizable, sets my work apart, and has led me to working with too brands such as Microsoft Xbox, Google, Adobe, Mazda, and more. I’m so proud of each project I complete. Helping a company bring a vision to life is one of the most rewarding aspects about what I do. I also love teaching photography and have taught hundreds of students through private and small group workshops.
How do you think about happiness?
Photography and having a camera in my hand makes me happy. It’s hard to explain, but it just gives me a sense of joy to be taking pictures. Never before in my life have I been excited and eager to wake up before sunrise, yet now it’s one of the things I enjoy most – all due to photography. Anytime I’m shooting, time seems to slip away and before I know it, the day is gone.
