Life & Work with Ana Sanson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Sanson.

Hi Ana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was a stay-at-home mom of two (now three) beautiful boys with a very loving husband, and feeling very fortunate to be able to be at home with my kids. It was what I thought I wanted to do full time and what would make me a “good mom” especially since we had the means to do it. Externally I was doing all the stay-at-home mom things, yet internally, I was very overwhelmed, anxious, and unfulfilled. I began to realize that I still had these desires to work and feel creatively expressed and make an impact out in the world, beyond being a mom. But I felt extremely guilty for saying so. I was afraid of what people would say, or how I would be judged, or what that might mean for me as a mom. It’s a very crippling and inauthentic way to live, from fear or societal expectations. And it started to overflow into the way I was mothering my kids, communicating with my husband, and even showing up (or not) for myself because I wasn’t being true to who I was. Being that those little eyes are always watching and absorbing you, it came to a point where I knew it was time to get support and make some changes because I wasn’t being the mom I wanted to be, living in constant overwhelm and frustration as things stood. And this is when I began my personal and spiritual journey in earnest, to learn how to trust in myself and what I wanted and to give myself permission to create a life that was in harmony and alignment with that. I still had important ambitions and dreams for my life that would add to the quality of my mothering, not take away from it.

And for me, it was this deep desire to do something that I loved that allowed me my creative outlet and a level of financial independence and empowerment for myself that I needed to honor. I have found that truly trusting in and following my inner compass and what lights me up has made me a better, happier, more empowered mom and wife because I am honoring all these important parts of me. When I started to share about my journey and growth and how it was impacting my life, I started to hear from other moms how they were having similar struggles and desires. And that’s when I knew that I wanted to help these women in the way that I needed when I was struggling and confused yet so desiring to be a great mom. And what better person to help them than someone who knew what they were going through and had been where they are. I was so passionate about this work and serving others in this way, and in many ways, I had already been coaching in previous work and with friends and family. I was the person people turned to when they had questions or just needed someone to hold space for them. It just seemed like the natural next step to become a coach. And that’s where I am today, helping mothers thrive and live from a place of alignment that lights them up and honors the wholeness and truth of who they are and what they desire. When we do honor ourselves in this way, it positively affects our relationships, our communities, and the world in all the best ways. I am so honored to help facilitate in this process and serve in this way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ll just say having three young kids at home, plus throw in a pandemic, was pretty nuts. Sometimes I was loving the simplicity of our schedule and time at home, and then there were those times where I was having mini-tantrums, feeling a lot of anxiety over the world at large and questioning how I could keep it all going. I was trying to wear all the hats of mom, wife, school teacher, life coach, housecleaner, entertainer, cook, etc. with no home support coming in. I couldn’t do as much as I wanted to do in and for my business and that was frustrating. As a mom and entrepreneur, it’s easy to feel like you’re failing all of the time because you’re pulled in so many different directions. There’s a sense that you could be doing more in every department and there’s never enough time. But at some point, you have to accept what’s happening, stay true to what’s really important to you and focus on those things that really matter and what you can control. And then give yourself a lot of grace and compassion as you allow the rest to take a back seat for a while. Most of the time, that was laundry for me (among other things). I do have an amazing husband, and together we worked to create somewhat of a schedule to help give each other what they needed in terms of support, working hours, time for self-care, etc. It wasn’t always easy, but we made it work and I feel so much more capable at handling whatever else may come our way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Holistic Life and Mindset Coach, and I specialize in helping women and mothers tap into their inner wisdom and gain the confidence and self-trust to create financial independence doing work they love. I am a certified NLP Practitioner, have my Masters in Business Administration, and am currently working towards a Transformational Embodiment Coaching certification. I really believe that success and balance really start from within. Without a strong internal foundation to supports you, it’s very challenging to create sustainable progress and to thrive on all levels that you desire. I use various modalities in my work as needed by my clients and these include EFT, breathwork, movement practices, meditation, mental, emotional release, belief clearing tools and techniques, etc. So I work in ways that really integrate mind, body, soul practices while also incorporating and weaving in intentional strategy in a way that really works for my busy mamas and clients. I currently work 1 -on-1 with my clients, with a group experience in the works. I also run wellness retreats which I hope to have up and running again very soon, so stay tuned for all!
