Today we’d like to introduce you to Amberly Lago.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My life was deeply altered and my world was completely changed in May 2010. While riding my motorcycle in Woodland Hills, CA, I was hit by an SUV and thrown thirty feet down a busy street. My right leg took the brunt of the impact and was crushed almost beyond repair.
Despite an arduous recovery process, being a former professional dancer and athlete I was determined to walk again and return to work as a fitness trainer. After a lengthy hospital stay and 34 surgeries, doctors were able to fuse my leg together and repair my severed femoral artery despite the initial recommendation to amputate. However, I was diagnosed with a nerve disease called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (formerly known as RSD) and I deal with chronic pain daily. This chronic pain has led me to develop positive, healthy ways of coping with pain and all the emotions that come along with it, and pass it on to others in any kind of pain.
This life-altering experience inspires me to communicate how you can turn tragedy into triumph. I demonstrate how you can hit rock bottom and still find the strength to get back up. My goal is to instill hope to keep moving forward by sharing different tools and strategies that have worked for me.
My keynotes focus on transformation, inspiration, and team building. Whether speaking to business groups, young people or anyone who has gone through a serious accident, injury or illness, it is always my goal to empower people to achieve whatever goal they have in mind, both personally and professionally. And by sharing my own experience, I demonstrate how to get the most out of life with acceptance, a strong mental attitude, and teamwork.
I’ve been blessed and I am so grateful for recent opportunities including being featured on the Megyn Kelly TODAY Show, and contributed to magazines such as Shape and Fit Pregnancy. My new book “True Grit and Grace, Turning Tragedy Into Triumph,” was just published and recently became a best-seller on Amazon for self-development and self-esteem.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My journey has been anything but a smooth road and the truth is, it’s made me who I am today. After my accident I underwent 34 reconstructive surgeries and encountered pain like I’ve never felt before, the obstacles I never thought I could overcome, and the challenge to resist giving up. This experience provided me with a life-changing opportunity to learn what being resilient and tapping into my true grit really meant. Without this, I wouldn’t have the chance to share my life story, travel the country, and inspire others who are or were in a situation similar to mine.
If there was one piece of advice I would give to young women, it would be this: You’ve got this. No matter how bad your day went, how far you fell, how big your last mistake was or how much you doubt yourself, know that you’ve got this! I believe we are all born with a superpower within us that shines when we are in situations like this. That light inside us is there to show us that we can push through and transform into the next evolution of ourselves in the process. Believe in yourself and take one step forward at a time. You’ve got this!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Amberly Lago – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a best-selling author, motivational speaker, and consultant to organizations. I present to a vast array of audiences demonstrating how anyone can hit rock bottom and still find the strength to get back up. My keynotes focus on a broad range of topics from personal potential, acceptance, and team building.
My life has been far from a fairytale and being able to be vulnerable and willing to share my experience has connected me to so many incredible people who now believe they can get through their struggles. It is that connection with my audience that brings me the most joy. I believe it’s this passion that provided me the opportunity to share my story nationwide on The Megyn Kelly TODAY Show and had led me to travel across the country on my book tour with “True Grit and Grace.” Let my story be an inspiration to anyone out there who is on the fence about sharing their story with others. It is the most rewarding and purposeful work we can do. Get out there and share your story! You never know who you will inspire!
