Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Nimira Alibhoy DC of Agoura Hills, CA

Nimira Alibhoy DC shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Nimira, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, what’s bringing me the most joy is spending time with my kids, not in a slow, quiet way, because let’s be real, life with a teen and a tween is anything but calm, but in a way that feels incredibly rich and meaningful.

I always knew I wasn’t cut out to be a stay-at-home mom when my kids were younger, but now that they’re older, I truly enjoy every chance I get to be with them. Watching them grow into these amazing mini adults is such a gift. I love being out on the soccer field cheering them on or soaking up time with my daughter before she heads off to college in just a few short years.

One of the most meaningful things we do together is participate in National Charity League. Volunteering side-by-side has given us a chance to see the world from different perspectives, build deeper empathy, and really appreciate what we have. Watching my daughter grow into a confident, compassionate young woman through that experience has been one of the highlights of motherhood.

Life isn’t slow right now, but it is full and I’m learning to savor these fleeting moments for exactly what they are.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My practice is ALIVE Wellness Center in Agoura Hills, California. I specialize in upper cervical chiropractic care – a gentle, highly specific technique that helps restore communication between the brain and body by focusing on the top of the spine. I also offer SoftWave therapy, a regenerative technology that supports healing without surgery or downtime for joint pain and soft tissue injury.

I started my first practice in Santa Monica back in 2011 with a baby on my hip, and over the years my work has grown with me – through motherhood, burnout, business evolution, and personal transformation. In 2022, I rebranded my practice to ALIVE Wellness Center, which stands for Always Living in Vibrant Energy. That name reflects the deeper mission behind what I do: helping people, especially women over 40, feel empowered, clear, and confident in their bodies again.

Many of my patients come to me when they’ve tried everything else. They’re dealing with things like chronic headaches, migraines, vertigo, post-concussion symptoms, or pain that just won’t go away. They’re tired of being dismissed or told “everything looks fine.” I specialize in helping them get to the root of what’s happening and create a healing plan that actually makes sense for their body.

What makes this practice unique isn’t just the tools I use – it’s the experience I create. ALIVE is a warm, calm, empowering space where people feel safe, seen, and supported. Healing doesn’t happen in chaos – it happens in safety. That’s what I strive to provide.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that thought I had to do it all – no matter how tired I was. The version of me that would power through, keep saying yes, and take pride in being endlessly available. That mindset helped me survive the early years of building a business and raising babies, but I’ve learned that just because I can do it all doesn’t mean I should.

These days, I’ve become much more intentional about how I spend my time and energy. I choose where to pour in, and I’ve learned to leave space for rest before I’m forced into it by burnout. That shift has allowed me to show up more fully for the people who need me most – my family, my patients, and myself.

I’ve also let go of the belief that I need to help everyone. For a long time, I felt responsible for every nervous system that crossed my path. If someone didn’t understand the work I did or didn’t believe I could help them, I took that personally. But I’ve come to realize that I’m not here for everyone – and that’s okay. I’m here for the right people, in the right season of their lives. The ones who are ready. The ones who are open. And those people will find their way to me.

Letting go of the hustle and the need to prove myself has been freeing. I’m not here to chase. I’m here to serve – with clarity, care, and grounded energy.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her: You don’t have to prove anything to be worthy.

You don’t have to overwork to be valuable. You don’t have to carry the weight of everyone’s healing on your shoulders. You don’t have to say yes to everything. You’re allowed to pause, to rest, to trust yourself even when things feel uncertain.

I would tell her that everything she’s building matters, but so does her peace. That her worth isn’t in her productivity or her perfection, it’s in her presence. And that the people she’s meant to help will find her, not because she chased them, but because she stood rooted in who she truly is.

Most of all, I’d remind her that she’s doing better than she thinks. That she’s going to grow into someone strong, grounded, and full of purpose – not by doing more, but by finally believing she’s enough.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say that I care. A lot.

I might not always be the one who remembers every birthday or sends the perfect check-in text, but when it comes to actually showing up, I’m all in. I care deeply about people – about how they’re treated, about how I make them feel, and about doing the right thing, even when no one’s watching.

I live by a simple motto: Just be a good human. That shows up in how I parent, how I practice, how I lead, and how I love. I give a damn – and I give it hard. When someone questions my integrity, that’s the only time I take it personally. For me, integrity isn’t just a value, it’s how I breathe.

I think my friends would say I’m someone who wants things to feel aligned. I don’t fake it. I don’t chase what doesn’t feel right. And I’ve worked hard to create a life and practice where I can lead with heart and show up authentically, without trying to be everything to everyone.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Honestly? I’d stop taking care of other people.

I love what I do. I really do. But if I knew my time was short, I wouldn’t spend it working. I’d spend it living. I’d travel the world with my family, soak up every second with my kids before they’re grown, and hold nothing back with my husband. I’d sleep in, eat the bagels, chase sunsets, and dance barefoot somewhere beautiful.

There’s a part of me that would feel guilty walking away from the people I care for. But if I only had 10 years left, I think I’d finally let go of that responsibility and pour everything into presence. Into memory-making. Into joy.

That’s the real wake-up call – we shouldn’t have to wait for a countdown to start living like our time is sacred. I’m not there yet, but I’m paying attention.
