Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Maria Melkonian-Maissian

We recently had the chance to connect with Maria Melkonian-Maissian and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Maria, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Intelligence and energy can move things forward, but integrity is what keeps them aligned. Without it, even the smartest ideas or hardest work lose direction. Integrity builds trust with clients, teams, and yourself, and that trust is what sustains real growth.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the founder of a creative agency built on one belief that strategy and storytelling should always go hand in hand. We help brands find their voice, define their direction, and create experiences that feel genuine and purposeful. What makes our work unique is the way we listen first. Every brand has its own rhythm, and our job is to bring that to life through clear strategy and thoughtful design.

Right now, we’re focused on helping businesses grow with more intention, building brands that don’t just stand out but stand for something.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks the bonds between people is a lack of understanding. When we stop listening and start assuming, distance grows. What restores those bonds is empathy, taking the time to see things from another’s perspective. Understanding rebuilds trust, and trust brings people back together.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me patience and perspective. It showed me that growth doesn’t always look like progress and that strength is often built in silence. Success can affirm what you know, but struggle reveals who you are.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Authenticity. It shapes how we work, how we communicate, and how we build relationships. When you stay true to what you believe in, decisions become clearer and connections become real. Everything else follows from that.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes. Because real fulfillment comes from knowing you’ve done the work with intention and integrity, not from being seen. Praise fades, but purpose stays. If the effort aligns with what you believe in, that’s enough.
