Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jax Hillard of Culver City

Jax Hillard shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Jax, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My mornings are designed to set the tone for a day of high-impact representation. I start early, before the industry wakes up, using that quiet window to scan trades and casting notices so I’m aware of every opportunity that might align with my roster. This is when I identify which projects I’ll target for my clients and strategize how to position them for the best possible shot.

By the time most people are having their first coffee, I’ve already reviewed overnight submissions, prioritized follow-ups with casting, and responded to urgent client needs. I check in on any active negotiations, making sure deal points are moving forward and that my clients’ interests are protected at every turn.

The rest of that first 90 minutes is about proactive career building: pitching talent to producers, planting seeds with casting directors, and clearing the path for the opportunities that will define my clients’ next big moves. Every action is intentional. Every call, every email, is either opening a door or locking in a win.

For me, those first 90 minutes aren’t just about starting the day; they’re about ensuring that the people I represent are top of mind for the right people, in the right rooms, at the right time. It’s a blend of strategy, speed, and persistence that sets the tone for the day and keeps my clients ahead of the curve.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jax Hillard, Talent Representative at Kreativ Media Partners, a management company representing actors, creators, and multi-hyphenate performers across television, film, theatre, and digital media. I built my roster on the belief that representation should be both fiercely strategic and deeply personal. My approach goes beyond simply submitting talent for roles. I cultivate careers with precision, aligning each client’s brand, training, and trajectory to create long-term success.

What sets us apart is the level of attention and advocacy my clients receive. I’m not just introducing them to the right casting directors or negotiating top-tier contracts. I’m constantly positioning them in rooms and conversations that accelerate their careers. Whether that’s securing a breakout role on a network series, navigating a first-class travel deal for a feature film, or leveraging brand partnerships in ways that elevate their visibility, every move is intentional.

Kreativ Media Partners is built for the modern entertainment landscape, where opportunity isn’t just on one stage or screen. We work across platforms, ensuring our clients are equally positioned to book a streaming series, land an Off-Broadway role, or partner with a global brand. Right now, we’re focused on continuing our presence in high-caliber scripted projects and continuing to build the kind of relationships that keep our roster top of mind for industry decision-makers.

For me, it’s about building careers with longevity, ensuring that each client feels represented, protected, and championed at every step. In this industry, momentum is everything and my job is to make sure my clients never lose it.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the titles and job descriptions, I was someone who instinctively built connections and created opportunities. I have always had an eye for potential, whether it was in a project, a person, or an idea, and a drive to bring it to life. I was the guy organizing people, mapping out ideas, and figuring out how to make things happen long before I knew it was called producing or managing. Growing up in the industry and spending time on sets like Hannah Montana deepened my love for film and storytelling.

That part of me has never changed. The difference is that now I have the experience, relationships, and strategic insight to channel that instinct into a career that champions other people’s success. At my core, I have always been someone who believes possibility is limitless. You simply need the right plan, the right people, and the right timing to make it real.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Trust that the path is unfolding exactly as it should. Every job, every challenge, every unexpected turn will give you the skills, perspective, and resilience you need to create the career and life you want. You do not have to rush or fit into anyone else’s timeline. Keep showing up, keep learning, and keep your vision clear. The opportunities you are dreaming about will come, and when they do, you will be ready for them.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
You do not have to follow a traditional path to build a powerful career. I believe the industry rewards adaptability, creative problem solving, and intentional branding far more than it rewards a perfectly linear résumé. Many people believe there is only one way to “make it” in entertainment, but my own career proves otherwise.

I have worked in FinTech, public relations, cultural institutions, and nonprofit events. I have co-founded (since closed) my own creative studio, produced theater, worked as a publicist, created content for a celebrity beauty brand, and managed national diversity and inclusion strategy with the White House. Each of those chapters taught me skills, built relationships, and gave me a broader perspective on business of people.

That range of experience is exactly why I can help my clients pivot quickly, adapt to different markets, and see opportunities that others might miss. The traditional ladder is not the only way up, and sometimes the most direct route to success is the one that looks nothing like what others expect.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
I would regret not building something that outlasts me. For me, that means creating a legacy of talent whose careers I helped shape, opportunities I helped unlock, and industry relationships I helped foster. I want to know that I have helped leave the entertainment space better than I found it, with more access, more diversity of voices, and more room for unconventional paths to succeed.
