Hannah Marie Muse shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Hannah Marie, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I’m loving this question. What a fun way to start an interview!
For me, I find myself totally timeless when I’m with genuine people I love.
Soul-Mates I consider family, friends that make any moment miraculous. I’m such a people person. To slow down, get silly and squishy with besties is such medicine.
I also find myself totally lost in the moment when I’m sharing poetry, dancing, or teaching. I’m blessed that my timeless moments of losing myself can also be moments of service and gifts for others.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
yes~ wow, so much has shifted since my last interview. I’m Hannah Marie Muse – multi-hyphenate artist, mentor, and healing arts priestess of Her Temple, a spiritual foundation. The Her Temple is a space for men and women to own their aliveness and serve humanity in a sexy way. I consider it the ministry of the muse, because all of the members are inspiring souls who light up the world with their art and mission. When we all make space to share our genuine gifts with the world, the world truly becomes a better place. No one is coming to save you, and the things you see in the world that need changing.. are most likely to be changed by y-o-u!
I started the foundation after a near death experience. I was driving in my hometown in Indiana and my car got hit by a truck, flipping down the highway. I obviously stayed alive with very little damage to my body (car’s totaled!). It was a wake up call to start living a life I am totally proud of, and to build a world my (future) children are safe and celebrated in.
The foundation is considered a feminine aspect of religion! I see a lot of religions celebrating men, so I built a religion that celebrates women. A true rise of the Matriarch! Not only does the church involve sermons, events and education, but we have prayerformances, music, and missions.
Currently, I bring those in recovery to sing at senior living homes in LA. Each muse I mentor is invited to create her own movement.
It makes me cry I get so happy thinking about women stepping up to serve and own their power of pleasure and purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandmother Miriam, RIP, was my greatest influence. She loved how I wanted to sew clothes and travel. She would stay up late with me and help me sew costumes before I’d fly around the world. She always reminded me to trust my gypsy soul and to follow my heart. I miss her so much! and I felt her power growing up. She was a widow, raised her kids, and still stayed happy despite a lot of challenges. She reminds me the power of the matriarch, of living by ones own design, and enjoying a life that’s beyond your wildest dreams!
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I successfully quit drinking alcohol 2 years ago. I had so much shame about my past, my life my work, my family.. you name it. I was closet drinking for a while and when I finally found a community of real a$$ people who could just listen without judgement, my world changed. I have such a beautiful life now! I have so much energy to live more loud and proud than ever before. Things that used to be hard are now so easy because I am authentically living and expressing as my optimal self.
LIfe’s definitely not perfect, but my stories impact and help other women rise. My pain is now a place of purpose.. I truly trust and believe in myself because I’ve grown so much and come so far! I am deeply grateful for my path and love meeting more women on this path. Had I never gone public about it, I would have never got some amazing new friends and job opportunities.
Plus, I love when people think I’m a crazy party girl and I”m like “No, I’m just intoxicated by life. I am intoxicating!” I see a world with more people drunk on the divine. and am excited to be a part of that movement.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Is the public version of anyone the real them?
We are infinite beings consistently changing, growing, evolving, or being triggered. This question is fascinating to me because any moment we have all access to an incredibly inter-dimensional range of experiences to share.
The more integrated and whole, the more access to the authentic self: which I see as the union of feminine qualities (care, nurturing, intuition) with the masculine (action, goals, problem solving).
So.. No? Yes?!
I love this question because I really try my best to be the same forwards, backwards, inside, outside, and upside-down. I feel very authentic and honest when it’s appropriate. There’s simply spaces when there’s clearly a time to perhaps, not be the biggest version of yourself in order to maintain safety or rapport.
Absolutely yes, you’ll find me at a bar, a street corner, a coffee shop.. I’m always sharing poetry and joy and connection. I love people. I meet the moment where I’m at – and I’m still growing! I’m still in my purification phase, my healing, and evolution is delicious.. So, I’m simply authentic with what’s happening for me and that is the best we can all do.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
What an amazing question.
I see the greatest misunderstanding of my legacy being confusion between erotic energy and aliveness. I have friends who joke I’ve started a sex-cult and that’s incredibly silly, and also wildly funny, considering I do teach pole dancing and love erotic edutainment. We are not educating around sexuality (per se? yet..?), we are educating and uplifting women and men into their greatest selves through intimacy, connection, and creativity. Bringing the feminine back online in union with the masculine is the most important thing we share, and the way we do so is by creating incredibly alive and aligned men and women who are ready to transform the world through their lives and love.
I see eroticism and aliveness very interconnection.
To be turned on by your life, the moment, to FEEELLLL is highly erotic. How holy can I make every single emotion I have? How RIGHT can I make every single thing in my life.. How deeply can I dance in the sacred divine of wholeness and watch worlds change. Eroticism is simply a huge ability to be with what is. It’s the ability to dance in the shadow and the light and to find wisdom and wonder in the wild.
The mission isn’t to “be sexy.” It’s to fully expressed. I don’t necessarily even teach my women to be “sexy,” although, a lot of what I educate around is ‘full spectrum.’ Fullness to feel, fullness to be free! Fullness to fly!! And that fullness, that full spectrum feminine, includes erotic energy. The ability to express the multitude of emotions and energies and dance in the delight of it all is sacred.
The ministry of the muse (Her Temple) is simply an invitation into the fullest expression of woman, and through that it invites our communities and men into their fullest expression. The ministry is co-ed and intends to support everyone into their truth, expanding the edges or rewiring our conditioned beliefs or behaviors.
I consider myself very erotic, very alive, very intune with the energies around me. That attunement creates coherence, harmony, beauty, and love. That’s the power of the feminine. The power of the feminine in the right hands is the most powerful force on earth and creates ripples of change. The power of the feminine includes her holy desires, her hot and turned on self, her beauty, her rage.. all of it.
I desire more feminine power. More priestesses awake to their inherent and holy selves.
The mission of the Her Temple Ministry is refining more women’s path to be hot, holy, and heart-centered so they go forth and create lives beyond their wildest dreams.. deeply in love and transforming the world with men who are powerful and prolifically changing society as well. Depth, devotion! DELIGHT! We are reconnecting to the ancient wisdom of the matriarch.
It’s misunderstood that it means we have to be boxed into “sexy vs sacred,” or “sexy vs spiritual.”
There’s misunderstandings around tantra, around breathing life into infinity! around believing in true magic and seeing change on the planet through love. And that’s something I’m willing to handle.
There’s room for the Priestess to rise in my spaces, there’s room for all of the human condition and experience and there’s room for massive change because we approach everything in our lives with holy devotion, honesty, and clarity.
I’m eager to see more women own their desires and their purpose.. and especially their pleasure. That’s the way of the Muse. That’s the way of the Magi.. that’s the way of the future we are creating together.
We aren’t really engaging in sex or eroticism for eroticisms sake, there’s a profound purpose to our pleasure and playfulness and even our prayerformances are built to awaken and inspire others, to turn them on to a new way of living and breathing and building! There’s nothing bad about a little pleasure, and pleasure with purpose is life changing.. but by no means is it an invitation to just be flimsy with sexuality or.. others hearts.
This is a heart-centered temple that welcomes and celebrates all of the human experience – much different than the religion I grew up with. A religion of true love.. of artistry, or heartistry! It’s a space where you can share poetry, play, share your pain, and fly.. It is a place to realize you are capable of creating change, because you embrace change. It’s prolific.
I’m excited.
