Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Elissa Goodman of West Hollywood

We recently had the chance to connect with Elissa Goodman and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Elissa, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are all about grounding and nourishment. I start with a big glass of warm lemon water with minerals to rehydrate, then spend a few quiet minutes journaling or meditating before I even look at my phone. Most mornings I make a green juice or smoothie loaded with greens, ginger, and plant protein to flood my cells with nutrients. I always step outside for a few minutes of morning sunlight to support my circadian rhythm and boost natural energy. Then I move my body—whether it’s a walk, Pilates, or light strength training—always tuning in to what feels best that day. Those first 90 minutes help me feel calm, clear, and aligned before the day really begins.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Elissa Goodman, a holistic nutritionist, author, and founder of EG Kitchen. My work is focused on helping people heal and thrive through food, lifestyle, and emotional wellbeing. After healing from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in my 30s and later navigating autoimmune disease, I became passionate about teaching others how to nourish their bodies in a way that supports longevity and vitality. For more than a decade, my team and I delivered organic, healing meals throughout Los Angeles through the EG Kitchen Cleanse, which became a cornerstone of the city’s wellness community. Today, I’m entering an exciting new chapter, sharing my pro-aging philosophy through my upcoming book, digital Reset Guides, and nutrient-rich snacks like our Super Seed Bars and Granola. Everything I create is rooted in the belief that the body wants to heal, and when you give it the right tools such as nutrients, rest, joy, and purpose, it absolutely can.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that I was sick and would never be able to keep up with everyone else. I had a low white blood cell count, a weak immune system, and truly thought something was fundamentally wrong with me. For years, I carried that story and let it define my limitations. Through years of healing, inner work, and rewiring my subconscious, I discovered that I was never broken. I learned that the body and mind are incredibly resilient when given the right support, nourishment, and love. Today, I feel stronger and more vibrant than I ever imagined possible, and now I help others do the same by showing them that healing is not only possible, it is our natural state!

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me my true strength. I would never wish pain or hardship on anyone, but I also know I wouldn’t be who I am today without the struggles that shaped me. My hardest seasons revealed resilience I didn’t know I had and taught me compassion in a way success never could. Struggle and discomfort will always be part of life, and there is no way to avoid difficult moments, but we can build the strength, self-trust, and self-love to move through them with grace. That is where real growth happens, and it is the foundation of the work I do today, helping others remember that healing and wholeness are always possible, even in the hardest times.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies my industry tells itself is that healing requires constant effort and endless intervention. We’re told we need to always be trying different supplements, running new labs, fasting, juicing, going vegan, sitting in saunas, or using all of the fancy red light devices. It becomes a checklist of things to fix ourselves instead of a journey of truly understanding ourselves. I believe the real foundation of healing begins with mindset. Your subconscious mind, your energetic field, and your ability to regulate your nervous system determine how your body responds to everything else. When you shift into a place where you truly believe you can heal, your body begins to follow. That is our natural state. The body is always trying to find its way back to balance.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
What I’m doing today that won’t pay off for 7 to 10 years is fully living my pro-aging philosophy. So much of my focus now is on healing at a cellular level and supporting my body in ways that build long-term vitality. My daughter just welcomed her first child into the world, and becoming a grandmother has filled me with a new sense of purpose. It has motivated me to do everything I can right now to ensure I still feel vibrant, strong, and full of life in the years ahead. 7-10 years ago, I never imagined I could feel as good as I do today, and that gives me so much hope for what is still possible! Aging is such a gift, and I see it as a chance to keep evolving, keep learning, and keep feeling more alive with each season of life.
