Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Andrea of Gaia of Long Beach

Andrea of Gaia shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Andrea, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Music has been bringing so much joy into my life lately. I’ve allowed myself to reconnect with my voice and the instruments I used to play as a little girl. Through this reconnection, I’ve realized that music is medicine — a sacred form of healing that I’m meant to share with the world. It’s been a beautiful journey of remembering who I am through sound.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Andrea of Gaia. I’m an artist, healer, and medicine woman, and at the heart of everything I do is the intention to help people remember who they truly are. Through sound, ceremony, and creative expression, I create spaces where people can reconnect with their truth, their voice, and the sacredness that’s already inside them.
I also guide ceremonies and retreats rooted in indigenous teachings, honoring Pachamama and the medicine of the Earth. My path is really a blend of art, spirit, and service — and my hope is always to help others come back home to themselves, to each other, and to the deeper harmony we all carry within us.

I’m also the co-founder of Zero Point Activation, where we’re bridging mindfulness and spirituality with the mental health world. We bring holistic, trauma-informed healing into clinics across California through modalities like sound healing, breathwork, art therapy, Tai Chi, yoga, drum circles and more. We work with children and teens (including those dealing with suicidal ideation), adults in recovery, seniors, school systems and inmates. Our focus is helping people regulate their nervous system, feel supported, and experience meaningful transformation from the inside out.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that completely transformed my life and the way I see the world was when life tested me in a way I never imagined. After a motorcycle accident, I spent almost a year in a hospital bed, facing physical, emotional, and mental challenges that pushed me to my limits.

That experience became one of my greatest teachers. It showed me that even in the most difficult moments, we still have a choice: to stay in pain or to rise above it. Pain is real, but suffering is optional. I chose to rise above the ashes, to heal my body through the power of my thoughts, my words, and my faith. I witnessed firsthand how the mind can reprogram the body, and how love and intention can rewire even the deepest wounds.

This experience became the foundation of my purpose and the heart of everything I share today through Zero Point Activation, bridging Eastern mindfulness and healing practices with Western mental health systems. It taught me that self-love, resilience, and the power of the heart and mind are the true medicines of our time.

By living and overcoming those experiences, I understood that healing isn’t just about recovery — it’s about remembering our infinite capacity to create, to rise, and to love. And that remembrance is what I now dedicate my life to guiding others toward.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
Something that completely shifted the course of my life after I had failed hard was hitting rock bottom, truly seeing myself there, and feeling the depth of that moment. It was one of those experiences that cracked me open and made me understand the duality of life — that there is no light without darkness, no joy without pain, no growth without challenge.

In that moment, I promised myself I never wanted to feel that level of emptiness again, the kind that comes from being disconnected from your truth. I realized I just wanted to live as my most authentic self, even if it’s still a work in progress. Falling taught me that failure isn’t the end; it’s a sacred invitation to rise with more awareness and compassion.

Since then, I’ve learned to give myself time, patience, and love, to speak to myself kindly, to accept my perfect imperfections, and to honor every fall as part of the journey. Because without those moments of darkness, how would we ever recognize our own light? Now, even in the hardest moments, I know there’s always a spark — a lesson, a blessing, a new beginning.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The project and purpose I’m most committed to, no matter how long it takes, is the lifelong mission of spreading seeds of light, love, forgiveness, and healing. My work with children, teens, and adults navigating deep emotional pain, including those with suicidal ideation, has changed me in ways I could have never imagined. It has cracked my heart open — not in a way that broke me, but in a way that reminded me of why I’m here.

Every session reaffirms my commitment to humanity, to remind others that healing is possible, even in the darkest moments. When someone feels like giving up, it’s often not their whole being wanting to die, but a part of them that’s simply yearning to be understood and released.

My purpose is to bring love, light, and remembrance to as many souls as I can, to guide others back to the truth of who they are. No matter the challenges, I’ll keep walking this path, sharing this medicine, and serving humanity until my very last breath.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes — I’ve learned through life, experience, and self-love to give my all, even when no one is watching and no one praises me for it. My path has taught me to serve without expectation, to offer my energy, my gifts, and my heart simply because it’s what my soul came here to do. The greatest reward is knowing I’m in service to humanity and walking in alignment with my truth.

When we do things from ego, seeking recognition or validation, we disconnect from the purity of our purpose. I’ve gone through many ego deaths in this lifetime, and each one reminded me that the moment I release the need to be seen, I become a clearer vessel for love to move through me.

The only reason I desire for my name or work to grow is so that the message can reach more hearts — not to satisfy my ego, but to expand the light and touch more lives. True fulfillment comes from doing what you love with intention, integrity, and authenticity, trusting that the universe sees you, even when the world does not.
