Yoescarlay Rodriguez (“Yoe Rodriguez”) was born in Venezuela in 1994. At the age of 7, her mother realized Yoe’s early interest in electronic devices, decided to buy Yoe her first computer. Yoe’s interest in software development grew stronger, and she started to dream about someday developing her own.
At the age of 16, Yoe finished high school and went to college to study Systems Engineering. Her passion in computer software led her to simultaneously pursue a technician degree/certification in Free Software Development (Apps and Web Development). By the age of 20, Yoe obtained the title of Systems Engineer and Free Software Development Technician. After obtaining her degrees, she made the challenging decision of founding Agencia Yoeweb 94 in Venezuela. Yoe was only 20 years old when her hard work earned her a spot at the Explosion Creativa event, where she joined hundreds of other honored entrepreneurs.
She moved to the United States when she was 21 years old, taking this opportunity to successfully expand her business under the name Yoeweb Design, This would become a company specialized in Digital Marketing and Printing Services. Since 2018, her company has been a member of PIASC (Printing Industries Association of Southern California Inc.) and PIOA (Printing Industries of America). It is also certified by California Unified Certification Program as DBE and by Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority as SBE – Small Business Enterprise.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For Yoe, it was not an easy road as she had to overcome many difficulties when she arrived to the United States. Being a young immigrant woman, she had to work hard to stand out from the competition. Over time, she earned the respect of customers, calling her in the City of Downey as “Yoeweb, the Latin Girl of Web Design”.
