Inspiring Conversations with William Maia of Peaceful Mind Centers

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Maia.

William, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, into a middle-class family, whose father was a Military Official and mother was a Computer Analyst, I have always been a studious. I loved doing medical researches, even at the early age of 5 years old; but it wasn’t until my paternal grandfather, the patriarch and our pillar, passed away from colon cancer, that I was certain I wanted to be in the medical field, and make a positive difference in people’s lives.

At 21 years old, onboard an airplane from Rio de Janeiro to New York, all I knew was I wanted to make my family proud, specially my paternal grandmother, who raised me; and my parents, who worked and sacrificed a lot so that I could have access to the best schools and universities.

Given that my intention was to be able to support myself while pursuing grad school, I became a Registered Nurse first; and after gaining experience and voluntarily working during the Covid Pandemic, I moved to Los Angeles. In the City of Angels, I fulfilled my dreams of finishing Grad School, and starting my healthcare business, all while continuing to help my patients feel better and smile, regardless of what they were going through. Life is worth living after all.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a smooth road. Having to work full time while going to College, and trying to manage work and school and personal life was not an easy task. Attending one of the most demanding programs, particularly due to its rigorous curriculum, time-consuming nature, and the emotional toll of clinical rotations, was quite challenging. Fortunately, I had loving, supporting parents, close friends, and a partner who made the journey tough periods a lot more manageable. They understood that studying in class and at home sometimes up to 03:30AM, spending days long at the lab and at hospitals, barely communicating with them, was a temporary necessity; and they stood by my side throughout the years.

I can never thank them enough. Mom (Cidilia), dad (William), Peter, Ricardo, Monica, Frida and Maggie, you are godsent. I love you tremendously.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I saw a growing need for holistic mental health and wellness that goes beyond talk therapy. Peaceful Mind Centers was born from the desire to create spaces where healing happens on every level – mind, body and spirit.

We blend licensed psychotherapy and wellness coaching with complementary practices like yoga, reiki, meditation, nutrition, sound healing, and stretch coaching – all into one Practice. This integrative model creates a truly personalized experience for each individual.

We lead with compassion and meet clients where they are. Both our clinic and our studio are calming, our team is warm, and we offer a range of entry points – from clinical counseling to sound baths. Whether someone os seeking emotional support, stress relief, or transformation, there is a path for them here.

We have seen clients overcome anxiety, heal from trauma, and rediscover joy. One memorable story involved a client who came for therapy but found unexpected breakthroughs through our sound healing sessions. It is incredible what happens when you support the whole person.

We are planning community events, and exploring collaborations with wellness brands. Our mission is to spread holistic healing awareness and make it more accessible, one peaceful moment at a time.

We are conveniently located in Beverly Hills (Clinic) and in West Hollywood (Studio). People can visit our website, or call/message us for a consultation. whether it is your first therapy session or your hundredth, we welcome you with an open heart.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I have learned that my family and friends are my most valuable treasure, and I am blessed to have them in my life. I love them unconditionally. I would not be the person I am today if it weren’t for them.

You are stronger than you think you are.

Your peace is sacred. Protect it.

Energy is very important. Listen to how people make you feel.

You can begin again. Anytime.

Nature restores what the world depletes. Return to it often.

You are allowed to outgrow people, places, and even versions of yourself.

Balance isn’t something you find. It’s something you create.

Every breath is a new beginning.
