Hi Vee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I left my corporate job after having my second-born son. After a year of being home, I decided that it was time I did something for myself and follow my passion, which belonged in the beauty industry. I have always loved makeup, but I knew I did not want to be in the makeup industry. I decided to enroll in an Esthetics program at a local beauty school and decided I wanted to focus on enhancing people’s natural beauty. Prior to started the program, I had already completed Lash Extension Certification Program with Sinful Lashes Academy and a Lash Lift certification program with SugarLash Pro and loved everything about those two services. However, what I loved the most was the end result of my services and how in love people fell with themselves through my work. So, I knew I was going to love the Esthetics program, which was going to teach me about skin health, face and body waxing, and make-up, and those were all going to be added services that I was now going to offer and be able to enhance people’s natural beauty even more.
I attained my state license in the middle of the pandemic, and I knew I was not going to be able to continue working from home, as I was doing before starting the program because now we were in the middle of a pandemic. There was definitely a lot of uncertainty during that time because no one knew if we were over the lockdown days of the pandemic and if moving my business out of my home would be a good idea. I had already been working as a Lash Tech since 2019 and I had my “regulars’ that were waiting for me to open my books once again. Knowing that my services were needed and my current book of clients were waiting for me, that encouraged me to branch out of my home and rebrand myself.
SKN Galaxy was born. Given that there were no beauty suites in the city of Northridge, I decided to put my savings in a storefront and move my existing clients there. I got the keys to my storefront on the 1st of August 2021 and opened my books to existing and new clients on October 2021. Here we are! A (challenging) year later, but we are still here and plan to be here. SKN Galaxy now offers Progressive Skin Treatments, Organic Lash lifts, Brow Shaping and Laminations, Face & Body Waxing, and Eyelash Extensions Services.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I knew that opening up my business and being a Solo Esthetician was going to be difficult, but boy did I not know the level of difficulty it was going to be. I am challenged on a monthly basis in different areas of my business. Being solo means you have to do your own marketing, be the one on the floor doing the treatments, manage scheduling, do the cleaning, manage my books and appointments, and the list can go on….. but nobody said it was going to be easy. I am just grateful that I have a supportive husband that pushes me and is there for me when I need a pep talk.

SKN Galaxy is a beauty boutique that specializes in progressive skin treatments, organic lash lifts & tints, facial and body waxing, and in brow shaping, tinting and lamination. SKN Galaxy is known for Organic Lash Lifts and Skin Treatments. The organic lash lift formula that I work was carefully selected and self-tested. It is a gentle, non-dehydrating formula that does not over-process the eyelashes like many other formulas do, especially the faster processing formulas. Every formula and product that we work with at SKN Galaxy for either the skin, brows and eyelashes is always selected with the client’s skin, lash, and brow health, and longevity, in mind. All of my back bar and retail products are chosen with the intent to nourish and improve the health of the skin, brows and lashes. I will never, EVER, sell a product or perform a service that I have not personally tested multiple times. The skin lines that I am currently working with are lines that have a lot of botanicals in it because I believe that mother nature heals, have a good track record in the beauty industry, and allows me to treat the most sensitive to the most resilient of skins. Skin is not a one size fits all, and we always take our time to get to know your skin before we begin any advanced skin treatments.

I don’t believe in luck, I believe in hard work, dedication, passion, discipline and perseverance. We reap what we sow, and I truly believe that what life gives us is not because of luck but the fruits from the seeds of hard work, passion, discipline, and perseverance.
