Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Bhardwaj.
Hi Tina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a certified fashion designer and wardrobe stylist, I co-owned the distinguished women’s wear label MadSamTinZin, which thrived from 2012 to 2023. Our brand adorned celebrities in the Indian film industry and graced the pages of renowned fashion publications such as Vogue, Marie Claire, and Harper’s Bazaar India.
In 2019, leveraging my in-depth knowledge of garment construction and catering to diverse body types, I expanded my design services to Personal and Wedding styling through LADYTIN STUDIO. With an attention to detail and a discerning eye for aesthetics, I aim to strike the perfect balance between style and wearability for clients worldwide.
My identity is a fusion of my inherently bold personality and the traits that have evolved throughout my journey. Relocating to the sunshine state of California and fueled by my passion for Indian fashion, I expanded Ladytin Studio into a multi-designer retail hub. Here, I showcase the talent and craftsmanship of leading Indian designers through their latest collections. This venture allows me to engage with clients, offering them not only the latest in Indian fashion but also personalized styling advice. Together, we embark on a fashion journey that seamlessly blends global aesthetics with the timeless purity of Indian roots.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey of Ladytin Studio was not the path I initially envisioned. If left to my own devices, Ladytin Studio might not have come into existence!! I was initially aversive to leaving India and my well-established brand, MadSamTinZin, which had thrived for eight years with a team of 65 employees. Eventually, love and family convinced me to explore new opportunities in California.
Leaving behind a flagship store and a flourishing business, I found myself on a flight to California, uncertain of what lay ahead. I knew all of two people interested in Indian fashion back when I landed in 2018. I gradually built a client base over the next few months and with support from my Indian business partners, I navigated the challenge of introducing current Indian fashion to the NRI community and altering their perceptions. Besides finding a client base, the struggle was to educate them about the evolved products being produced in India. However, as the quality and allure of our offerings became evident, the market embraced the changing landscape of Indian fashion.
Today, at Ladytin Studio, I collaborate with designers whose products and design language resonate with me. Beyond merely selling their products, I serve as a wedding stylist, ensuring that every penny spent on wedding outfits or occasion wear translates into a million-dollar look. These obstacles encountered along the way have shaped Ladytin Studio into a thriving hub for Indian fashion in California.
As you know, we’re big fans of Ladytin Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The USP of Ladytin Studio lies in its dual role as a multi-designer retailer for renowned Indian designers and a provider of luxury wedding styling and personal shopping services.
As a retailer, Ladytin Studio distinguishes itself by representing Indian brands with a strong visual narrative consistently reflected in their products. The studio showcases versatile outfits that not only highlight the richness of Indian culture but also stay relevant in the global fashion landscape. Every style featured in the studio is personally curated for an audience that appreciates timeless, versatile fashion.
In its capacity as a luxury wedding styling service, Ladytin Studio collaborates with clients worldwide to craft visually stunning narratives for their unique wedding journeys. The focus is on storytelling through outfits, weaving culturally sustainable attire and accessories into a visual narrative tailored specifically for each couple. The studio ensures that the textures and fabrics remain authentic to Indian culture while the styling and essence of the look have a global appeal. This delicate balance creates a relatable experience for clients residing outside of India.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I am a spiritual reader with a deep love for books that expand my mind. Works by authors like Devdutt Patnaik, who makes the Bhagavad Gita and other Hindi literature relatable for young minds, and books on human psychology, such as “Mind Control” by DeSilva, currently occupy my reading list.
Nature serves as my greatest inspiration. Whether it’s the clusters of wildflowers growing together, the sight of a hummingbird’s nest, or the colors of the evening sky, each element reminds me of the inherent order that exists in nature without human interference.
