Inspiring Conversations with Teresa Beardsley of Safety Compliance Services LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teresa Beardsley.

Hi Teresa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started with a deep passion for people and a strong sense of responsibility when it came to how we show up for each other at work. Early in my career, I worked in live events and entertainment, where I saw firsthand how safety and communication could make or break a production. Over time, I realized that the systems meant to protect people were often reactive, rigid, or disconnected from the actual work being done.

In 2020, I launched Safety Compliance Services LLC as a direct response to the pandemic. Our goal was simple: help people get back to work safely. We began by serving the media and entertainment industries, supporting productions, venues, and crews through uncertain times. What started there has grown into something bigger.

Today, we’ve expanded into new industries—like manufacturing and supply chain—but training remains at the heart of what we do. Whether it’s custom e-learning, live instruction, or safety planning, we’re focused on building tools that actually work for the people using them.

It’s been a winding path, but I’ve built something meaningful that aligns with my values, allows me to collaborate with incredible professionals, and keeps evolving as the world does.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I didn’t come from a business background, and I didn’t have strong mentors early on to help me understand the bigger picture—things like business continuity, financial planning, or how to build something sustainable. I had the vision and the drive, but a lot of the foundational pieces I had to learn the hard way, in real time.

Starting a company during a global crisis added even more layers. We were trying to help others get back to work safely while also figuring out how to stay in business ourselves. As a small, woman-owned company, resources were tight, and the learning curve was steep.

Along the way, I also had to grow up—personally and professionally. I had to develop myself as a leader, get comfortable with hard decisions, and learn how to keep showing up, even when things felt overwhelming. There was no blueprint, so I built one—piece by piece.

It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been honest. And that process shaped not just the company, but the kind of person I’ve become.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Safety Compliance Services LLC is a woman-owned company that specializes in creating customized safety training and compliance solutions for businesses of all sizes. We started in the media and entertainment world, but our work has expanded into manufacturing, supply chain, hospitality, and beyond. What we do best is meet people where they are—with practical training, planning, and tools that actually make sense for the way they work.

We offer e-learning, live training, policy and procedure development, safety assessments, incentive-based training programs, and white-labeled training portals. But more than that, we focus on building safe spaces—physically, emotionally, and operationally. We’re known for our human-centered approach and for making safety accessible, collaborative, and actionable.

What sets us apart is that we don’t just hand over a binder or point to a checklist—we work alongside our clients to create solutions that stick. Everything we build is rooted in clarity, empathy, and the real-world demands of today’s workforce.

Brand-wise, I’m proud that we’ve created something that reflects our values. We prioritize quality over noise. We partner with diverse subject matter experts. We keep our training concise and effective, without cutting corners. And we allocate 1% of all net training sales to carbon reduction through Stripe Climate, because we believe safety and sustainability go hand in hand.

What I want people to know is that we’re here to help—whether you’re building a training program from scratch, trying to get compliant, or just want to make things safer and simpler for your team.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that courage doesn’t always show up as confidence—it often starts as a quiet decision to say yes to your future, even when it’s unclear what that path will look like. When I started this company, I didn’t have all the business knowledge or funding or structure—I just knew I wanted to create something that could make a real difference in people’s lives. That simple yes—to myself, to the vision—was the beginning of everything.

Courage opened the door. And what I learned next is that big visions require other people. If you want to build something that serves many, you have to collaborate. You have to trust, delegate, and build systems that include others. That’s not always easy—especially if you’ve been used to doing everything on your own—but it’s necessary.

Over time, the vision becomes clearer. You learn how to move with more precision, to make decisions that are thoughtful and aligned. But it always starts with that first brave yes. I’m proud I said it. And I hope others do too—especially those who are holding big dreams and waiting for the “right time.” Sometimes all it takes is that one moment of courage to set everything in motion.
