Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanté Micah
Hi Shanté, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a former broadcast journalist and a current brand and communication strategist with a master’s degree in public relations from The Newhouse School of Public Communications in New York nearly two decades ago. I was named one of Newhouse’s Top 25 Young Alumni to Watch, and later a “Stevie” winner for Woman of the Year at the 2015 and 2017 American Business Awards. I’ve also been named Utah Business Magazine’s “30 Women to Watch”.
I’ve worked for International Sports Broadcasting, host broadcaster for the Olympics, built brands for Fortune 500 companies, was an expatriate in Israel, walked the red carpet at the Academy Awards and Emmys, volunteered in the favelas of Brazil, been the face and personality for brands and products and launched many award-winning campaigns for clients that include Adobe, Dell, ESPN, Disney, and Time Warner Cable.
I founded Good News in 2021 where we help brands cultivate visibility, clout, and credibility through earned media and thought leadership.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We founded Good News on the principles that we’ve cultivated over a lifetime of experiences so the road has been relatively smooth. The work is to continually understand the needs of the market and balance those with the projects that are intrinsically motivating to us. The advent of AI has significantly transformed how brands seek visibility, clout, and credibility which is our bread and butter. In an era where consumers are increasingly skeptical of paid ads and self-promotional content, brands are pivoting towards highly credible content like earned media. We’ve also seen that AI’s sophisticated algorithms prioritize authentic, engaging, and trustworthy information, making earned media a critical asset on both a macro but also micro level. Brands are compelled to invest in genuine interactions and third-party endorsements to build and maintain their reputation and we’ve had decades refining our approach to do this very thing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Good News?
Our mission at Good News is to elevate businesses and brands to unparalleled heights of visibility, clout, and credibility. In a world where attention is the new currency, we specialize in turning the spotlight onto our client, ensuring their story isn’t just heard, but sought after and celebrated.
We understand that in the constant noise of content and competition, standing out requires more than just a message; it requires a masterful strategy. That’s where our approach to not only capture a significant share of voice but also craft messaging that resonates deeply with audiences is key in firmly positioning a brand as the go-to thought leader in their industry.
Our journey began with a simple yet powerful belief: every business has a story worth telling—a story that can inspire, engage, and transform audiences. However, in the cacophony of the digital age, these stories often go unheard. We set out to change that.
We offer simple programs, services, and tools that will help any brand go from obscurity to omnipresence in the least amount of time possible and for the biggest brand in terms of clout and credibility.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I hail from a tiny farming town where my summer job was driving combine harvester for wheat harvest. 14-hour days driving at 3.5 mph and this was before iPhones, iPods or any streaming devices. I listened to a lot of books on literal tape (that I checked out from the local library) and while watching for big rocks or badgers, and contemplated my life and what I wanted to have, be, and do. I didn’t have the words back then but I knew that a career and a body of work were important to me. So, I set about making sure to have the option to create both. I was a young girl in a small town with big dreams and I am happy to say that I’ve made them a reality, especially with the newest evolution into a business builder and CEO of my own businesses and brands with a proven track record for bottom-line results.
