Inspiring Conversations with Sam Levari of Erica’s Laundry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Levari

Hi Sam, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Six years ago I left the alarm industry and bought Erica’s laundry that has been here for more than 20 years. I received a wonderfully operating business and I took it a few steps forward. I added a lot of new technology like loyalty cards in addition to coins, replaced all the old machines with new ones, replaced the dryers with bigger and reversible ones. I automated all the processes so that everything can be controlled through my phone or the customer’s phone. Yet the main thing I added was an ozone system that provides Ozone into the cold water. This was extremely important especially at COVID time. The Ozone not only washes better with less chemicals and it’s very environmental friendly but it sanitizes the machines and the laundry during every wash. The ozone whitens and softens the laundry and kills 99.9% of all the viruses and germs. People are usually very worried about who’s laundry was in the machine before them. The ozone eliminates all these concerns. Ozone is also very good for people with skin allergies as it gets rid of bed bugs and mites.
I also added for the community the reading and playing corner for families in honor of my parents. We provide free books and toys for families who can’t afford them. I am especially proud that we carry books in English and Spanish and bilingual books as well. I also did changes in the laundromat to make it ADA friendly. In addition to lowering the counter, the sink and the folding table we are happy to provide assistance to anyone in need when the place is attended which is most hours of the day. We also support our veterans and first responders with special discounts.
I added a pick up and delivery service which is very helpful to the elderly community and people who are disabled and can’t leave their home.
Most important is our friendly service end cleanliness. If you check our reviews these are the two major complements that we get.
Erica’s Laundry is my gem and we all work very hard to make laundry a pleasant chore as much as possible

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s for everyone else COVID time was a real challenge. I am very Happy that we were able to overcome it and still provide quality service to the community.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Many years ago I graduated as an electronic engineer. Over the years I practiced it in different fields. This gives me a very strong advantage when it comes to technology. I am able to understand the importance of new features that can make running the business and also provide better service to our customers. Loyalty cards for example give our customers the much easier way to operate the machines without having to carry heavy quarters and also it gives them multiple bonuses and makes the process cheaper for them. Reversible dryers are unique at Erica’s, because they change their turning direction every few minutes, the laundry doesn’t get tangled and dryes much faster. For people who wash their blankets and large items, it is very significant in time and money saving. Ozone is also very unique at Erica’s and it provides cleanliness and safety to our customers.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
New machines and new technology are very costly. Since I understand their importance, I am not afraid to invest and bring them to Erica’s. You have to look forward and invest in your business to keep it up to date. It is very important to give the customers the feeling that you’re doing everything you can for them
