Inspiring Conversations with Rosstein

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosstein.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2012 we came up with the name Rosstein (Raw-Steen). We started off selling t-shirts to friends and family out of car trunks and bedroom closets. We got our first store from on Pico & Fairfax in 2015. We stayed there for about a year and a half and we relocated to Crenshaw across the street from Leimert Park. This was a surreal move because we are born and raised in LA, we did everything in that area from haircuts to going to the movies at “the Crenshaw”.

We’ve been on Crenshaw for just over five years. We do more than clothing, we also do events and charitable community activities. We do s annual “Rosstein Santa” where we offer discounts the entire month of December if you donate a toy for our toy drive. We used to stand in lines as kids doing toy drives and now we have 1 and that feels pretty cool.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Tons of ups and downs. We didn’t get out of our deficient for til about 2019, then then pandemic hit and took wiped away our events and promotion subsidiaries while our store was closed down for 3+ months dropping revenue by 79% and bills kept coming. That was the biggest struggle and hurdle to get over.

We’ve been impressed with Rosstein, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a brand who makes clothing, host/throws events and actively participates in our community. We are very proud to be able to lead by example, show kids who from the inner city like we do, that you can go to college, come up with a business and work to create something special. We look to inspire and be inspired. Readers should know our journey, how we worked hard and never gave up. Anything is possible with determination.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Never be afraid to seek help, mentoring or advice.
