Today we’d like to introduce you to Nimira Alibhoy, DC.
Hi Nimira, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always knew I wanted to help people heal, but it wasn’t until chiropractic school that I discovered upper cervical care, and that’s when everything changed. I realized healing isn’t just about reducing symptoms; it’s about restoring communication within the body, supporting the nervous system, and giving people the safety and trust they need to truly heal. That clarity led me to open my first practice, Upper Cervical Specific Chiropractic, in Santa Monica in 2011 – when my daughter was just 18 months old.
In 2014, I relocated the practice to Agoura Hills and continued seeing patients under my own name, Dr. Nimira Alibhoy, until 2022, when I rebranded to ALIVE Wellness Center. The rebrand marked a turning point, a reflection of not just the care I was providing, but the energy, intention, and community I wanted to build around it.
Over the years, my work has deepened, both clinically and personally. I’ve grown not only as a practitioner, but as a woman, a mom, and a business owner. Today, I specialize in upper cervical chiropractic and SoftWave therapy, helping people – especially women over 40 – reclaim their health, clarity, and confidence when nothing else seems to work.
One of the most defining moments in recent years was recognizing that burnout can happen even when you think you’re doing everything “right.” I had to shift my schedule, reevaluate how I was practicing, and get honest about what sustainability really looks like – for myself, my patients, and my family. That experience reminded me that the only way to get where you truly want to go is to occasionally pause and ask if the way you’ve been doing things is still aligned with your vision.
My “why” hasn’t changed – it’s always been about helping people realize how incredible their bodies are and giving them tools to heal in a lasting way. What has shifted is how I now include myself in that equation. Healing others can’t come at the cost of your own well-being. So now, I help people live healthier, more grounded lives – while making sure I’m doing the same.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all – and I think it’s important to say that out loud. When you’re in a healing profession, people often assume you’ve got it all figured out, but the truth is, we’re all navigating our own stuff behind the scenes.
There have been seasons of major growth and seasons where I was barely hanging on. The most recent challenge was burnout. And not the kind that comes from overworking alone, but the kind that sneaks in when you’re doing something you love, but forgetting to make space for yourself in the process. I had to take a hard look at my schedule, my energy, and even my identity as a practitioner and ask, “Is this sustainable?”
Shifting my schedule felt like a risk at the time, cutting back felt counterintuitive in a culture that praises hustle – but it was the most honest move I could make. It allowed me to start showing up with more clarity, more presence, and ultimately, better care for my patients.
Being a small business owner while raising a family has also come with its own juggling act., Especially now that I have two mini adults who are amazingly responsible but still need their mom around during these important years of figuring out who they are and what they want to do. There’s no perfect formula, but I’ve learned that when I give myself permission to evolve, everything else starts to align more naturally.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At ALIVE Wellness Center, we specialize in upper cervical chiropractic care – a gentle, precise approach that focuses on the top of the spine where the brain and body communicate. That small but powerful area plays a big role in regulating the nervous system, and imbalances there can cause issues like migraines, vertigo, dizziness, fatigue, and even anxiety. Most of my patients come in with chronic symptoms that haven’t responded to other treatments – especially headaches, post-concussion symptoms, or unexplained dizziness.
In addition to chiropractic care, we also offer SoftWave therapy, a regenerative technology that reduces inflammation, promotes healing, and helps accelerate recovery without surgery or downtime. It’s been a game changer for patients dealing with joint pain, soft tissue injuries, or inflammation that keeps coming back.
What sets us apart is how we use these tools. Our approach is gentle, individualized, and deeply rooted in nervous system health. We don’t believe in quick-fix care or high-volume offices. Every patient is met with intention, education, and a clear plan designed for long-term healing.
We’ve become known as a place where women over 40, who often feel ignored or dismissed in other health settings – can come to be seen, heard, and supported. Many of them have been told “everything looks fine” on paper, but they know something’s off in their body. My job is to help them reconnect to their health and trust their body again.
What I’m most proud of is that ALIVE isn’t just a name – it’s a mission. It stands for Always Living in Vibrant Energy. And that’s exactly what we want for our patients – to move through life feeling clear, connected, and fully alive in their bodies. We’ve created an environment that feels warm, calm, and empowering. Healing doesn’t happen in chaos, it happens in safety, and that’s what we provide.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve never thought of myself as a big risk-taker – but the truth is, every step I’ve taken to build ALIVE has involved risk. Choosing to specialize in something as niche as upper cervical care was a risk. Starting my own practice when I had two young kids was a risk. Investing in SoftWave therapy, a technology most people haven’t even heard of, was a risk. But I believe the biggest risk is staying stuck.
One of the most significant personal risks I’ve taken recently was pulling back on my schedule to protect my energy and avoid burnout. In a world that glorifies hustle, choosing rest and sustainability can feel like a radical act. It was scary to step away from a model that was “working,” but I knew I couldn’t keep pushing forward at the expense of my health or my family. That shift turned out to be one of the most transformational things I’ve done, not just for myself, but for the depth of care I’m able to offer my patients now.
For me, risk is really about alignment. If something scares me but still feels aligned with my purpose, I see it as an invitation to grow. And so far, every leap – whether in business, branding, or personal boundaries, has taught me more about who I am and how I want to show up in this world. Sometimes the boldest thing you can do isn’t doing more – it’s doing what’s right, even when it’s hard.
