Today we’d like to introduce you to Nia Lee.
Hi Nia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began working at the age of 15 years old but somehow, I always knew that I had to carve out my own lane. When I came to the realization that I didn’t want to traditionally work in Public Relations in my 3rd year of university, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I’ve always had passion for beauty which allowed me to work for brands such as NYX Cosmetics, Bite Beauty, and Shea Moisture to name a few. Not to mention my love for social media was vastly growing and before I knew it, I was getting the chance to ACTUALLY help local beauty businesses with their social media.
I started my social media marketing agency, Socialee Media Agency, shortly after and to say it’s been a ride is an understatement. Although it’s never a dull moment, I am beyond grateful that I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside brands such as Well.ca, Curls, The Detox Market, and many more. Every client has (and continues) to push me outside of my comfort zone, allowing me to continue to provide them with visionary social media strategy and video content creation to take their beauty brand to the next level.
I looked at my LinkedIn the other day and was SHOOK to see that I’ve been at this since 2019 — feels just like yesterday I was letting everyone know I was FINALLY ready to bet on myself and do exactly what I’m doing now. Still carving out my own lane, unabashedly on my terms, and trusting my gut throughout the process.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s 100% been a mixture of smooth and bumpy roads! I will say the biggest struggles I encountered have been internal. More so second-guessing myself when I knew in my gut what I needed to do and that’s truthfully when the roads began getting smoother. I’ve had opportunities to work with dream clients and they didn’t always pan out the way I wanted, which was a bummer at the moment but taught me how to be a better business owner. I always say that I never take an “L” in whatever I do as it’s always a teachable moment to set me up for success in the long run.
