Today we’d like to introduce you to Naira Keshishyan.
Hi Naira, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Naira and I’ve been a practicing clinician (LMFT) for the last 11 years. If you had told me back then that I’d one day be a licensed therapist managing my own practice and helping thousands of people across California, I wouldn’t have believed it. I never imagined I’d be my own “success story.” My focus has always been on helping others transform their lives and showing that meaningful change is possible for everyone, no matter their circumstances. My journey hasn’t been easy, but witnessing the growth and healing of my clients over the years has deeply inspired and shaped me as both a person and a therapist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! It has actually been a cyclical roller coaster ride. I started off in the field in my early 20’s with no understanding of who I am or what I am getting myself into. When you are studying and completing your clinical hours and at the same time processing your own unresolved traumas, it becomes unimaginable. I struggled the most with not having any form of support on my journey into becoming a therapist. I felt completely alone and isolated from the people who I counted on helping me. That’s what actually pushed me to becoming a successful therapist. I didn’t want anyone else to feel alone and learned a great deal about empathy and resilience. The responsibility of helping others has empowered me over and over again to overcome my own obstacles.
We’ve been impressed with Heal with Naira, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run my own private practice for mental health called “Heal with Naira.” I started it 5 years ago right before the pandemic in which the mental health field was going through extensive changes. My clients would probably describe me as “authentic and relatable.” My approach to therapy is very straightforward but warm, with a touch of humor. I’m honest and practical, but also integrate evidence-based modalities into my practice to help my clients make measurable progress. I specialize with relationship issues, self-esteem, life and career transitions as well as treating eating disorders. I also have a background in nutrition and integrative medicine which sets me apart in my field and informs the way I support my clients in achieving meaningful, lasting change. My hope for the readers is to inspire them in their ability to create the life they want. Your dreams are real and they exist for a reason. I went from a hopeless LA kid with no vision or hope to a successful private practice business owner.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I love to be in nature! I love playing sports and have so my whole life. I also am a writer, which most people find hard to believe since I never talk about it or share my work with anyone.
