Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayra Arias.
Hi Mayra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a 39-year-old mom and self-taught home cook that lost 135lbs on low-carb and keto. I lost 100lbs in one year, then lost another in 35lbs in another year. When I got pregnant with my daughter, I gained 100lbs and lost that all within another year through diet and exercise. I’ve been maintaining my weight ever since with low carb and keto. I started my social media Instagram @low.carb.love about five years ago, wanting to share tips and recipes for keto, and it has grown ever since!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road even though I’ve tried to stay as committed as possible. I’ve fallen off the wagon multiple times, and I’ve always had to pick myself back up. At first, I got discouraged, but once I accepted that it was part of the journey, I was able to embrace that and continue onwards. Some of the things that I’ve focused on is not putting so much pressure on myself and focusing on a health mentality vs a weight loss mentality. For me, this means that I’m focused on making sustainable habits for my weight loss journey instead of just trying to lose weight quickly.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Low Carb Love is the name of my organization. I’m a food content creator that is primarily focused on low-carb eating and recipes that can help you lose weight. What sets me apart from others is my weight loss journey and focus on my mission. As someone who’s been through a weight loss journey, I know how hard it can be. I love recreating all the comfort foods that I grew up eating. I love sharing recipes that people love but tend to stay away from because they’re unhealthy. We love creating a community that are foodies and are focused on better eating. I also love sharing tips and tricks as well!
What are your plans for the future?
My ultimate plan for the future is to create a hard-cover cookbook. I’m actually super scared of public speaking, so hope to train myself to have enough courage to do a public speaking event. I would also love to create a product of my own one day!
