Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Haisha
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Any time one goes after a goal that is bigger than themselves, it will be challenging, but in a good way. I had many obstacles that I dreaded along the way while going through them, but now I realize that those were the good times and great life lessons that helped me build my emotional intelligence and grow a thicker skin. Overall, for me it was relatively smooth because I worked on myself. I had tools to help me like daily Tai Chi and meditation, and I also had a supportive boyfriend. I learned it was your state of mind more than “actual reality” that makes life harder or easier. We are Spiritual Beings having a Human experience. So all our good and bad is for our personal growth. Everything works out exactly as it’s supposed too.
My journey moving to LA started after college in San Diego. Then acting classes and acting jobs. I lasted a few years in that world until I learned it wasn’t for me. I loved the art but hated the business side. I then started doing commercials and got a stint modeling in Japan. Besides earning a lot of money, I also sold my screenplay and raised a million dollars for a feature film. There was a lot of learning in that experience. I took a few courses in International Financing but didn’t think I’d ever use those skills.
I spent the next couple years in pre-production, production, post and film festivals. And, being a bit more flush financially, it opened up more opportunities. I decided to spend some cash on going back to school to get a masters in psychology. That was a powerful couple of years that I cherish. I had a lotto therapy and worked with orphans, inmates, foster kids and the homeless. It opened my eyes to a world I hadn’t spent much time in. I then started on non-profit to help raise money for children. Since I moved to LA, I was traveling the globe. Now it’s been over 60 countries and counting.
A few of my challenges encompassed #MeToo moments, working then dry spells, getting fired for not wanting to do nudity.
My smooth part was making real friends an having a support system that included my boyfriend and a handful of friends and a therapist.
I also hike, play tennis, enjoy art and nature. I love to throw gatherings, large and small, to connect with liked-minded individuals myself, and also to connect people with each other.
My job is also my passion and hobby. I love coaching my clients and mentoring people starting out in Hollywood. It’s a different beast today, but some core situations and patterns are engrained in the industry, and persist quite strongly. I’m passionate about giving new talent helpful tips on ways to handle rejection, stress, difficult situations and relationships.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is spending time with loved ones, parenting and living my passions which are my life’s work, art, creating, teaching, writing and hobbies, tennis, walks, meditation, throwing events, connecting people, enjoying great meals, cooking vegetarian for others, and giving back to this world during the short time we have here.
