Inspiring Conversations with Leeron Tal of My Divorce Concierge & Solo Moms Community

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leeron Tal.

Leeron Tal

Hi Leeron, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I went through a high-conflict divorce in 2018 after ten years of marriage and 2 kids. At the time, no one in my family or community was divorced, so I felt so much shame and was so lost. Ultimately, it was the best decision for me and my boys (three and seven years old at the time), but it was a tough road.

I had been working as a Preschool Director for 10 years and built relationships with so many families in Burbank. My divorce was finalized on March 12th, 2020, just one day before we went into lockdown! I found myself unemployed with no support system. I was finally ready to get out in the world and start dating, but instead, I was isolated at home with two young children, just trying to survive like everyone else.

Many women I knew in the community started reaching out to me as they were struggling with their partners during quarantine. The rate of divorce increased dramatically. When seeing so many marriages fall apart around me in 2021 during the pandemic, I decided to study and become a Certified Divorce Coach through the International Divorce Coach Centre of Excellence.

I started My Divorce Concierge in August 2022, and I am completely fulfilled from helping others. I provide a service I wished I had for myself in the beginning stages of my challenging divorce. My experience as a Child Development Educator helps me support mothers gain the strength and knowledge, they need to help support their own children as they adjust to divorce.

Now, two years later, I am seeing a huge need for community and support, so I have launched the Solo Moms Community and host a full calendar of events and programs such as support groups, Coffee & Coaching, social events, workshops, and retreats.

I love to work with women in the beginning stages when they are still grieving and completely overwhelmed. I help them with strategic planning to understand where to begin in their journey towards divorce. Typically, it’s hard to know where to begin and most people think their first call should be to a lawyer. I help get them get prepared and understand what they want and what is best for their kids so that by the time they need to take legal action, they are prepared, ultimately saving them thousands of dollars. Lawyers tend to get asked questions that have nothing to do with legal advice, and one email to a lawyer usually costs more that a session with me! I now receive referrals from lawyers, realtors, accountants, and even therapists.

My coaching style utilizes journaling, manifesting, and visualization to help women feel empowered and create the life they deserve!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth! Ha! Nothing is smooth when it comes to divorce! As far as starting my coaching business, the hardest part I found was breaking the negative stigma around divorce. My mother even said, “Maybe you shouldn’t use the word DIVORCE in your business name. It’s too negative.” Let’s face it, divorce happens and has been around for decades. As long as there will be marriage, there will be divorce, and it’s nothing to try and sugarcoat.

80% of divorces are currently initiated by women- a record high. Women are feeling more empowered to take control of their life and aren’t as afraid of being on their own like in the past. Yet, they are still villainized for “breaking apart their family.” From what I’m seeing, many of these couples start to struggle when there is a lack of division of labor in the home. Women are working full time while still expected to take care of the kids, their partners and duties of the home. I think women have just had it!

We’ve been impressed with My Divorce Concierge & Solo Moms Community, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I offer so much more than individual coaching – I am building a community. I have vetted professionals in the divorce industry, such as attorneys, financial experts, child therapists, real estate professionals, self-care specialists, etc… I can help my clients build their support team. The Solo Moms Community is the village all solo parents need to survive and thrive!

I am very proud of the additional ways I have been involved in the divorce community, such as being a co-host on a podcast called “The Jewish Divorce Project” and creating a program for schools to offer support to students who are children of divorce as well as classes and workshop for their parents.

What matters most to you? Why?
I feel like helping women grow and live their best life is my calling. Providing a safe space for mothers who are parenting alone feels like a big need that I can fill.
