Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Logan.
Hi Lauren, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m 3rd generation in my business Juvenile Shop.
My grandpa bought the original Juvenile Shop in 1963.That store closed during the riots.
The valley location has been here since 1977.I told my mom I would work for her for the summer 1979 and I guess the rest is history. I never left.
My mom is now 90 years old.
We have a wonderful clientele and lots of babies that are now having their own babies.
It’s so much fun when the grandparents come in with their kids and say I bought all his/her stuff from you 30 years ago.
I think we are the last store left that carries almost everything you need for your new baby.
We have a full selection of furniture,gear,gift and baby clothes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m not sure I’d say struggles but business has changed a lot through the years.
The way people shop has changed.
Covid was tough.
Economy changes are tough.
Convenience shopping is tough.
Now everybody wants to talk about gear Strollers, car seats. It use to be furniture was the main focus.
The online mentality has hurt us the most,
I use to have 15 full time employees now 4.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are one of the oldest baby stores in the country. Our reputation is stellar we really know our stuff.
Our specialty is educating new parents helping them feel comfortable about being new parents.
Navigating all the products out there and making the best choices for their lifestyles.
We carry all the top brands in gear Nuna being the best. We have a full selection of Gear from many different manufactures.We carry furniture in different price points so we have a lot to choose from.
Romina ,Oilo Studios,Namesake,BabyLetto to name a few.
I think the thing I’m most proud of is the people who work for me. The “girls” have all been here for over 25 years.
We love helping parents to be in a cozy environment that makes people feel comfortable.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Talkative All my report cards say talks too much in class.
Very social and lots of friends for life.
Love my family they mean everything to me my kids, grandkids parents and the rest.
