Inspiring Conversations with Kevin Kasir

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Kasir.

Kevin Kasir

Hi Kevin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After having a corporate sales job and being a third-grade teacher, I knew I wanted more. With each passing year, I feel more connected to the queer community. I hope to create a true community where people help and support each other, and I believe that starts with people first supporting themselves. Whenever I’m in any space, I find myself having growth-oriented conversations, and when it comes to the LGBTQ+ population, I am so interested in hearing everyone’s unique story. This is what led me to realize that being a Gay Life Coach would be what lets me help the community that I love by doing something that I love.

I started on social media, and that led to doing in-person events as well. After putting myself out there in multiple ways, I’m happy that now I feel more connected to the community, and now it’s my whole job to be gay! I don’t have to worry about a boss’s opinion of my sexuality or if I would lose my job for a picture of what I do outside of the job. I’m thankful that the queer community is willing to help each other in a professional sense because that community is what got me to where I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Things have been going well but of course, there are some challenges. After having a steady flow of clients for a while, I recently began getting less inquiries. The biggest challenge has been reminding myself that things slowing down does not mean things are wrong; it’s just the natural flow of life. I feel very passionate about what I do, and thankfully I have the mentality that this slow period is only temporary. It does nudge me to create more programs to offer, which is a great way to reach more people. It seems that most of the struggles are mental blocks, and they often have simpler solutions than I originally think of.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Life coaching is making an actionable plan to reach goals. Therapy is more focused on healing the past. My clients often have a therapist as well, although that is not required to work with a life coach. I work with the LGBTQ+ population, with a vast majority being gay men. My main interests are helping my clients develop assertiveness and confidence and learning how to take small steps instead of freezing completely when faced with many decisions.

I’m proud that I’ve been able to have an in-person and online presence for gay men, especially around the West Hollywood area. I work with clients over Zoom with a three-month coaching program, but when I do in-person events, it is in either Hollywood or West Hollywood. I hope that the gay community feels more like a community, with more eye contact, platonic hellos, and confident people who aren’t afraid of rejection. My life coaching is action-focused, but I’m happy that I’ve been able to work with gay men regarding topics that other people may be shocked to hear. When working with another gay man who’s done a lot of gay things, there’s not much explanation that needs to be done. It’s very clear that there’s also no shame for any topic that gets brought up to me, no matter how taboo others might think it is. I’m glad that both online and in person, I’ve been able to show that, and I hope people let their freak flags fly and become the best version of themselves while they’re at it!

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I work with clients through Zoom with weekly calls during a three-month coaching program. Anyone who’s interested can message me on Instagram and check out my daily video posts to get a good idea of my personality and way of thinking, or they can reach out through email.

As for professional or brand collaboration, I enjoy public speaking on queer topics or in-person life coaching at organized events. I would be happy to get a message through Instagram or email regarding this to coordinate.
