Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelle Evans.
Hi Kelle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi! I’m Kelle Evans, Founder & Visionary of The Healing Portal — or as I like to say, Goddess in Charge. Helping others brings me joy. The moment I step into my studio to work with a client, my energy lifts. Sharing what I’ve learned and helping others find peace and clarity gives my life purpose.
I’ve always believed there are many paths to healing. Over the past two decades, I’ve explored countless modalities that bring comfort, balance, and transformation. My journey began when my corporate job announced a relocation to Texas — a fork-in-the-road moment that changed everything. I loved my work, but I chose a new direction: the healing arts.
I first trained as a massage therapist, then discovered Reiki while working for a chiropractor. The moment I felt energy flow through my hands, I knew I had found my calling. Since then, I’ve pursued learning all kinds of healing practices ravenously — Reiki, Quantum Energetic Disciplines, Creative Life Sciences, Advanced Psychic Healing, and Shamanic practices — blending them into a multidimensional approach that meets people where they are.
And then I discovered teaching. I love to teach — to empower others like ripples on a pond, sharing the magic of healing and witnessing others awaken to their own gifts.
Although The Healing Portal is rooted in Ventura, the energy of my work extends far beyond those walls. My healing sessions, trainings, and Reiki-infused crystals are available to anyone, anywhere — whether in person, online, or through my shop. I love connecting with people across the globe who are called to this work.
Service has always been part of my soul’s path. I’ve volunteered with hospice, cancer-care programs, and animal rescues, believing that every act of compassion radiates healing outward. I am an Earth Keeper by my soul’s lineage, advocating for Gaia. Through The Healing Portal, I weave all that I’ve learned into sacred space where others can reconnect with their own innate power to heal — their own greatness. My greatest joy is seeing someone leave lighter, freer, and more empowered than when they arrived.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The first year I left a full-time corporate job to try to earn a living in the healing realm was one of the hardest years of my life. I did continue doing some consulting, but all of the ways I knew how to move in the world of finance and technology did not translate well into the healing world. I was so afraid that all of the nay-sayers were right—that I had made a mistake and should have taken the relocation package to Texas.
I do have tenacity, though. I kept trying this and that and the other, slowly figuring my way through to becoming a successful healer, teacher, and mentor. The mentor part was not just about training—it was about living long enough, embodying enough wisdom through life’s rocky roads, and beginning to tap into my guidance more fully. Trusting it. Trusting me.
The next really, really hard time came with the Covid shutdown. I know it rocked many people’s world, but as a small healing business with very little cushion…oh my. I am still trying to recover. I had tripled my commercial space just four months before the shutdown. There were no warning indicators, nothing to prepare for what was about to come. And while I have a drive and a belief that I can do anything I put my mind to, I couldn’t possibly foresee this—no income, and no cushion, just having expanded, and no certain future in unprecedented times. I was grateful for a few business grants. But with no safe way to serve the public, closure mandates, and then rising interest rates, the impact was devastating.
There is so much that could be said about the intended and unintended consequences of that time. My world, and most certainly our collective world, was changed forever. There is still so much healing needed. To this day, I continue to offer Reiki heart-healing up to the world to help mend the echoes of that terribly tragic time.
But let me share a story that balances out the hardship. When it was time to leave the space I was in —the building had sold and moving was inevitable—I was stunned by the outpouring of community support and love. So many volunteers came to help me pack up my crystal shoppe that I cried. My heart and vision were held in the loving hands of my community that day, and I will never forget it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Healing Portal?
The Healing Portal is a sanctuary for healing, transformation, and community connection. We offer intuitive healing sessions, workshops, intuitive readings, and gatherings, along with one of Southern California’s largest selections of hand-selected, Reiki-infused crystals, jewelry, and metaphysical tools.
My work integrates over 22 years of experience in Reiki, shamanism, intuitive and psychic healing, massage, aromatherapy, homeopathies, herbs, flower essence therapy—and, perhaps most importantly, a lifetime of lived experience (wisdom does come with age). Together, these create a truly holistic approach to wellness. Healing doesn’t look just one way; each client has different needs, and my energetic container continues to evolve with my deepening intuitive connection and ongoing training. It’s an ever-expanding expression of love and service.
What sets The Healing Portal apart is the feeling people describe when they walk through the door—a sense of calm, magic, and belonging. Everything in the shop is chosen and blessed with intention, and many items are created in collaboration with local artisans and healers. Supporting other makers and small businesses is central to our mission of helping the community thrive together.
People often tell me, “I just feel better being here.” That authenticity and heart are what I’m most proud of. The Healing Portal isn’t just a business—it’s a living, breathing space where spirit is embodied and healing becomes tangible. Whether you visit in person or virtually, there’s something here to uplift and inspire your journey.
And yes—we believe laughter is medicine! Humor is sacred here, too; it lightens energy, opens hearts, and reminds us that joy is one of the most powerful forms of healing.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
My childhood wasn’t easy. Like many, I grew up in a home marked by dysfunction and emotional chaos. My sisters and I had a pretty difficult upbringing—one of those classic stories of wounded children being raised by wounded parents. Still, I believe our souls choose families that push us to grow — and mine certainly did. I learned early how to read a room and try to keep the peace. Animals became my sanctuary, and creativity my escape. I loved dance, theater, and storytelling.
My mother, an English teacher fascinated by the occult, took me to my first astrology class when I was eight — planting a lifelong curiosity about the mystical. My father, a geophysicist, sparked my love of crystals and the spirit of Gaia. When he brought his trays of geological specimens to school, I saw science and magic meet for the first time. As with all humans, my parents were dualistic in nature—carrying both their goodness and their unhealed pain.
We had a small menagerie of animals—dogs, cats, snakes, fish, and especially horses. Horses were my lifeline. I’d sneak off to the fairgrounds before and after school to clean stalls and ride, spending every possible moment there. Away from the chaos at home, I found a tiny bit of safety and belonging in their steady presence. They became my first teachers in energy, empathy, and nonverbal communication—long before I had words for what I was learning.
My dad left when I was eight, and by fourteen I was legally emancipated. I had already endured trauma, loss, and the instability that comes from growing up around addiction. My own addiction didn’t begin until I was 17, but its roots were sown much earlier in my parents’ alcoholism.
I couldn’t see it then, but that’s where my path as a healer truly began. The archetype of the Wounded Healer isn’t just poetic—it’s lived truth. We walk through the fire first, and when we find our way back, we carry the medicine for others. My journey through pain, insecurity, and the ache of abandonment eventually led me home—to the healing, compassion, and understanding that now define my work.
