Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Peters.
Hi Justin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I can remember, I have been surrounded by fitness, nutrition, health, and wellness. I am blessed to have been raised in the South Bay by a mother who is a Registered Dietician and a father who is a Medical Doctor. Together, they run a preventative medicine and healthy aging clinic called Nourishing Wellness in Redondo Beach. Through them, I was taught the importance of living a healthy lifestyle at a young age. However, I did not always follow my parents’ advice. In fact, my personal health and fitness journey did not really begin until 2015, following a near-death experience, when I decided I was tired of the weekend party scene and wanted to make a change for the better. After some self-reflection, I rekindled my passion for fitness, nutrition, and health…and haven’t looked back since.
I found discipline. And consistency.
Fast-forward to today: I am a full-time attorney who spends almost all other waking hours outside of work researching, testing, and implementing health, fitness, and nutrition protocols. My education and experience as an attorney have taught me how to read research with an analytical eye, cut through the noise, and pass on content, education, and protocols based on this research.
I also practice what I preach. I train hard, smart, and often. I train for functional strength, athletic performance, and hypertrophy, but I also love endurance training. This concurrent style of training has allowed me to build and maintain my physique, all while training for and completing multiple Ironman Triathlons—widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world—and other extreme endurance events, such as a 100-mile ultramarathon. Nothing will teach you more about yourself than training for and completing a brutal endurance event. That is why I love them. Strong in Body, Strong in Mind.
I now live with my beautiful and supportive wife-to-be in Torrance and practice law out of Century City.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always personal struggles, failures, and growth. As I mentioned previously, I was involved in a near-death experience — a stabbing on July 4, 2011 — in Hermosa Beach. That was a dark time in my life. Much of the time was dedicated to living the party lifestyle and the fake invincibility that often comes with your early twenties. I’m glad I grew out of that phase, but I would not take it back if I had to do it again. It was a catalyst for growth in my life.
But otherwise, I have been blessed with an extremely supportive and loving home front.
Luckily, most of my “struggles” have been self-inflicted, which is a very privileged place to be in. Some examples include getting into law school with a merit-based full-ride scholarship, failing the bar by only a few points on the first attempt (passing on the second), and then my foray into many extreme endurance events, such as multiple Ironman’s and ultramarathons, including a 100-miler–all that take many months of dedication and training to complete.
We’ve been impressed with Steady Up Health, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I am not putting in Big Law hours, I am helping other athletes reach their potential through my coaching business, Steady Up Health.
At Steady Up Health, we offer a unique approach to coaching, specializing in concurrent or ‘hybrid’ training. This innovative method combines strength, hypertrophy, and endurance training, mirroring the diverse needs of athletes like you.
My goal is to make you the best, most well-rounded athlete you can be. This mix of strength and hypertrophy, along with endurance training, sets me apart from the masses because many coaches specialize in either bodybuilding or endurance training, but those worlds do not usually collide. However, this style of training is the best carryover to everyday life. Everyone wants to look fit and have some muscle but also be athletic and move with endurance. This is where my programs shine. You will build muscle, lose fat, and build a base of endurance, all in the same program based on the best evidence and research to date.
I offer custom 1:1 coaching, as well as thoughtfully designed programs. These evidence-based programs are born out of my passion for fitness and coaching and my ability to build strength, muscle, and size while training over 20 hours of cardio per week for multiple Ironman 70.3 and Ironman Triathlons.
When programmed correctly, strength training and cardio can exist together in the same fitness program!

We’d love to hear what you think about risk taking.
Taking risks is essential to growing as a person or business. You cannot be afraid to take a risk because you might fail. Failure has taught me some of my greatest lessons in life!
With that said, your risks should be calculated and not too impulsive. Take the extra second to think about the path forward and different outcomes that may occur. That was the attorney in me talking. But then GET STARTED. Do not overanalyze. I still struggle with this, and usually, WHEN I OVERANALYZE, it makes me feel worse about my decision. Just evaluate, plan, and PROCEED.
