Inspiring Conversations with Jessica L. Dupree of The Dupree Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica L. Dupree.

Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After returning to college in my 30’s, I decided to pursue a degree in journalism and interned at a radio station. After that opportunity, I worked as a producer for a radio show and interacted with publicists daily booking their clients to be guests. One of the publicists was living in Las Vegas and needed me to escort her client down the red carpet in Hollywood. I haven’t looked back and have been a publicist ever since. I recently celebrated my third year in business and to date, I have represented Grammy Award-winning recording artists, actors, actresses, as well as global and national entertainment executives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth but it has been worth the bumps and bruises along the way. When I started my business back in 2018, I had to teach myself all aspects of running the firm from perfecting my craft in public relations to managing the business and everything in between.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Dupree Agency. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Dupree Agency is a Public Relations firm that specializes in Entertainment and Business. My clients range from Global Entertainment Executives, singers, songwriters, actors, actresses, as well as businessmen and women who want their personal and professional brand stories told. I’m known for helping my clients craft brand messages and narratives that build equity and shape their powerful public images. I would have to say that what sets me apart is my unique ability to peel back every layer of the client’s brand to create storytelling that helps them resonate and build emotional connections with their target audiences. I’m most proud of consistently connecting my clients with opportunities, exposure, and visibility on the industry’s most sought-after platforms and media outlets.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along the journey is knowing that whenever a great opportunity is approaching, there is usually what seems like a period of hardship and disappointment that precedes it. If we look at it through the wrong lenses and without faith, we will feel defeated and question whether we are really in God’s will. So many people quit not realizing that their breakthrough was right around the corner. We must learn to recognize that trouble is a sign that victory lies ahead, not defeat.
