My name is Jasmin Barnes, and I am the proud owner and founder of My Wig Studio, a boutique specializing in alternative hair solutions and cranial prostheses. We offer a wide range of options, including synthetic, hybrid, and human hairpieces, wigs, half wigs, and hair extensions. Our mission is to serve a diverse group of women—those navigating hair loss challenges and those simply seeking to elevate their look and style.
At My Wig Studio, our ultimate goal is to empower women by enhancing self-esteem and self-confidence, promoting a positive self-image that supports healing, recovery, and personal transformation. We believe that being a woman is already a superpower, but when paired with confidence, the possibilities are limitless.
My journey began with my own struggles with self-confidence and the challenges of managing my hair. Wigs and extensions became my go-to solution, and they transformed not only how I looked but how I felt about myself. This personal experience sparked a passion for helping other women feel the same transformative power.
There’s nothing more fulfilling than witnessing the glow in a woman’s eyes as she sees herself in the mirror and realizes her inner beauty is shining through. For me, that moment is where passion meets purpose.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For far too long, wig-wearing has been surrounded by myths and misconceptions. As someone who works passionately in the wig industry, I’ve seen firsthand how these stigmas can hold women back from embracing a solution that can bring so much confidence and freedom.
Myth 1: Wigs Are Only for Hair Loss
Truth: While wigs are a lifesaver for women experiencing hair loss, they’re also a tool of empowerment. Women choose wigs for many reasons—time-saving styling, switching up looks without damage, and self-expression.
Myth 2: Wigs Look Fake
Truth: Modern wigs are incredibly realistic. With high-quality lace fronts and hand-tied designs, they blend seamlessly, offering natural movement and appearance.
Myth 3: Wearing a Wig Is Shameful
Truth: Choosing to wear a wig is a personal decision—whether for necessity or style. It’s no different than wearing makeup, getting extensions, or putting on your favorite outfit to feel confident.
Overcoming the Stigma

What do you do, and what do you specialize in/what are you known for?
We specialize in providing alternative hair solutions, including synthetic, hybrid, and human hairpieces, wigs, half wigs, and extensions. We’re best known for our personalized approach to helping women regain their confidence through alternative hair or wigs, especially those facing medical hair loss due to conditions such as alopecia, hormonal imbalances, stress, and/or chemotherapy.
What sets you apart from others?
What truly sets us apart is our mission to make wig shopping light, fun, and uplifting. We’re not just selling a product; we’re restoring confidence and creating joy.
What are you most proud of brand-wise?
I’m most proud of the community we’ve built and the lives we’ve touched. Seeing a woman’s face light up when she looks in the mirror and feels whole again is the most rewarding part of what we do. Our brand is rooted in empowerment, and we’ve created a platform to spread awareness, bust myths about wig-wearing, and foster a sense of belonging.

We offer private consultations—both in person and virtually—and guide our clients through every step of the process, from selecting the perfect hairpiece to fitting and styling. For women with medical hair loss, we can work directly with insurance companies to verify coverage, handle the paperwork, and ensure they get the cranial prosthesis they need with little to no out-of-pocket cost. Additionally, for those who cannot afford a wig, we proudly offer wig sponsorships to ensure everyone has access to the solutions they deserve.
Since 2008, we have donated hundreds of hairpieces to those in need. We have partnered with City of Hope, St Jude and various local cancer clinics to spread awareness and hope. We are most proud of being part of our customers’ journey to healing.
